We decided to visit Spice of India due to the exceptional reviews given on Trip Advisor. I have to say that after our visit I wondered how Spice of India had received such good reviews. We do not normally eat Indian food on holiday but...as it was an extended trip and a lot of the restaurants were shut on a Sunday we decided to have an Indian meal. We arrived at the restaurant and it was absolutely packed which is obviously a good sign but unfortunately due to this the service was poor as I think it was too busy for the amount of staff who were working there. First of all the drinks that we ordered did not arrive until half way through our meal and even then the drinks arrived at different times!! My girlfriend asked three times for our drinks and hers duly arrived eventually without my drink. We were speechless!! Eventually we asked for a fourth time where my drink was!! The cocktails themselves were very good though and my girlfriend’s cocktail was the best that she had during her holiday (mango flavour). In regards to the food - some of it was very good but some of it was not so good. The very good was the peshwari naan which my girlfriend loved (I thought it was okay). The saffron sauce which the chicken was in was really good. The basmati rice was cooked perfectly. The not so good was the poor standard of chicken in the saffron dish. There was also a small bone in it as well. The Chicken Tikka Masala that I ordered was in fact Chicken Bhuna which is not a curry I am a fan of but it was edible. I did not complain about any of this as my philosophy is i chose to visit this restaurant so there is always an element of a risk and by this stage after the cocktail saga I just wanted to pay up and leave. However when the bill arrived and incidentally it is not a particularly cheap restaurant I was staggered to see what was printed at the bottom of the bill after our poor service. On the bottom of the bill the restaurant actually suggest what tip you should pay ranging from 10% to an unbelievable 30%!! This was in addition to the standard 10% service charge which all restaurants charge in Rodney Bay. I had to raise this issue with the person who took the payment who I presume was the owner or manager. I mentioned my late arrival of my drink but I did not raise any of the other ‘not so good’ points listed above. Taking into account the poor service that we received I wanted to know why the restaurant was suggesting up to 30% tips on their bills. The owner/manager replied that it has been on the bottom of the bill for the past twelve years. His reply was in a slightly bolshie manner in my opinion. He did take one of the cocktails of the final bill but I didn’t want that deducted and I explained that to him. My issue is how can you have suggested percentage tips at the bottom of the bill when the service was poor. I would suggest getting more staff to better the service that the customer gets and then and only then in my opinion you can start even considering putting suggested tips at the bottom of your restaurant bills which would still not be right. My suggestion would be if the product/service produced by the restaurant is very good then the customer will tip accordingly without being prompted by a suggested tip percentage at the bottom of the bill. Incidentally this is the first time in my lifetime that I have seen suggested tips mentioned on a restaurant bill. Other restaurants in Rodney Bay that we ate at Matthew’s Rooftop, Amici and Buzz Seafood and Grill did not have suggested tips at the bottom of their bills!!More
Dear Andy, Thanks for taking your time to write to us. But, we spoke about these at the restaurant when I did not charge you for the drink which arrived late as a form of apology. That is the problem with this business, no matter...More

I stopped by on my first night in St. Lucia and the food was so good I had to come back a second time. On the second visit, I couldn't decide what to try so the owner recommended a sampler of three dishes, which was...perfect! I highly recommend a visit. If you're with friends, get different dishes so you can try more than one. If you're traveling solo like I was, try a sampler!More

We celebrated my cousins engagement at Taste of India Rodney Bay St. Lucia. Owner personally made recommendations. The cilantro mojito was so good as was the tamarind margarita. Food was delicious, best meal of our holiday.
You actually mentioned our top favourite cocktails at the restaurant. We are thrilled to know that your family had a good time with us at SOI. Congratulations on the engagement. Best regards, Chef Adil
We needed a change from bland Hotel food and this restaurant was exactly what was needed. Attentive friendly staff set the scene for a high quality meal with immaculate presentation and very good food, the scallops & saffron chicken were to die for but every...thing else was just as tasty. Not the cheapest place to eat but definitely worth the moneyMore
Many thanks Stepheno for your feedback about your dining experience with us. We are so appreciative of your visit and comments. Best regards, Chef Adil
My wife and I decided to eat last minute so we arrived without a reservation but Yolanda and the team were so accommodating that we had a great table for two. The food and the service were great and all at a very reasonable cost....If you find yourself in Rodney bay I highly recommend trying the spice of India and the peshwari naan are a definite must.More

We had a fantastic meal at Spice of India. Recommended to us by a friend who lived in St. Lucia for 8 years. They even prepared off-menu dishes fat we specially requested, and they were fabulous. The restaurant was busy with several birthday celebrations. It...is very obvious that this is one of the best spots in Rodney Bay. The owner was there and was very active serving tables and making sure everybody was accommodated. That passion is the sign of a well-run establishment.More
Thanks Freedom for your visit and this lovely review of your time with us. Thanks for your motivating words and recommendation online. Best regards, Chef Adil
One does not expect to find excellent Indian cooking on St. Lucia, on par with anything one might have in NY or India. This was the best meal we had during our week long stay here. The Sag Paneer was outstanding. Saffron chicken was also...a standout. Nan was a bit over cooked. Service were attentative.More
I don’t know how this place got good reviews from Tripadvisor. Super expensive and very very small portion. We wanted to order lunch special and the waitress said the portion is small so we ordered regular items. We liked the samosa but our garlic naan...is underwhelming and lamb Rogan josh barely had any meat and it was the smallest portion- so I can’t imagine how small the lunch special is?The staff wasn’t the friendliest either.More
Hi Vivian, Thanks for your feedback. I am sorry that your experience with us was not when we want our guests to have at SOI. But, not everything you have written are true. We are not super expensive and portions are not small. Have you...More
We had heard good things about this restaurant so we took a dinghy ride over from Rodney Bay Marina. Its right across the street from the dinghy dock. Drinks and food were truly excellent.
