Visited this restaurant once during our two week vacation and had a very pleasant evening with great service, staff advised on the menu and as we both liked our Curry’s hot and spicy the waiter understood and conveyed this to the chef. The food was fantastic as was the whole experience and we had a really nice evening. Centrally located at the end of the shopping mall this is really convenient will lots of nearby free parking.

We visited twice during our stay on St Lucia, I thought it was nice they remembered us on our second visit,
Nicely decorated, I liked seeing all the bangles! Staff are friendly and helpful.
My favourite meal was definitely the Lamb Saagwalla. You can chose the strength you would like your curry, so for those of you who don’t like to much spice it’s no problem. The Popadoms are one of the best I have ever tasted! Great Naan bread too.
We were to full to order a desert.
Would definitely visit again, Thankyou.

Came here for dinner during our trip and everything was wonderful! From the food to the service, everything was outstanding. We ordered the liver fry masala, butter chicken and goan fish curry. If the spice level isn’t to your liking, make sure to tell them, they will gladly adjust it for you. My husband likes things spicier than me, so he was able to get fresh hot chili’s on the side to make it spicier for him. We would definitely recommend this place and visit again!

We came here exactly a year ago and enjoyed a wonderfully fresh tasting and different Indian food take from what we’re so often used to in the UK. We’ve returned to Castries and despite staying at an expensive all-inclusive hotel, we knew we had to return despite the $50 return taxi trip.
It’s so often true that you can’t recreate experiences and that was sadly true last night at Spice of India. We ordered poppadoms which came with three tired dips, followed by starters of Ali Tikki and Boti Kabab a potato and pea and lamb dish and we enjoyed both. For main I chose Karahi Chicken and Beef Bhuna and neither hit the mark. We’d asked for breast of chicken for the Karahi and for both curries to be above medium heat, we recalled that our food was super hot the previous visit so wanted to temper that slightly. The main courses were a little bland, certainly not chilli hot enough (of course the interpretation is entirely subjective) and unfortunately my wife’s meal wasn’t breast meat which is her preference. My beef dish didn’t even taste like a curry or even an Indian meal, it was over sweet and while not particularly unpleasant, absolutely not what we’d paid $50 to get to and enjoy. I must also add that the naan bread was nothing like we’d previously received - puffed and buttery and steaming hot, this seemed like it had been cooked much earlier and heated up.
The staff were very pleasant and understanding and naturally deducted the price of the chicken dish (my wife left the vast majority) and were kind enough to call us a cab.
Maybe we ordered badly, maybe it was an off night, we certainly found it to be vastly different from our first visit but accept that these things sometimes happen. It’s true that many other reviews largely suggest that it’s still an excellent restaurant but I can only impart my personal experience.

I went because of a recommendation of a friend. Let's dive into pros and cons.
Pros
(1) Located in the middle of Rodney Bay shopping area. Lively area.
(2) The food is decent. Menu looks authentic.
(3) Service was not too bad.
Cons
(1) I decided to eat because a chef friend recommended the place, and I ordered what is supposed to be very spice curry (Lamb Himachal), but it was not spicy enough, for a good Indian dish I think. Maybe the level of spice is adjusted for American or European tourists. But since i was expecting something really authentic Indian, I was disappointed.
(2) I don't think I was treated well. I was waiting in front of the restaurant, since the place was full (I went there Saturday evening). Nobody came out, and I wasn't sure what to do. Then a family came, and passed me, and started talking to the maitre d. I then talked to him, I have been waiting, he told me "they have been waiting since before you." I think they came, and left to check out other restaurants. Does this mean they have to be service before me? I was not happy with the maitre d. Then, the family left, so I was taken to a table...
(3) The service was slow, partly because it was crowded. But nobody came asking about drink or water for more than 10 min.
Overall, it is ok, but I was not impressed. Hope there is a better place than this, with the Indian influence on this island.

Dear Makoto,
Thanks for your visit and the feedback. Next time, just ask for hotter food and we will make it that way. If still not hot once you have taken the first bite, please let us know and we will take it back in the kitchen to make it hotter for you. We prepare the food to satisfy you and not ourselves.Every body has a different level of tolerance when it comes to heat in the food. You can never know unless you taste it. Sounds like you are a chef and you definitely must be aware of that.
I apologise if you thought that you were not treated well. I remember you waiting outside without a reservation and I am the one who took you in once there was a table available. It was one of the busiest night we have had in nine years of our existence here. The family you are talking about had come in earlier long before you and wanted to recheck if their table was ready. Then they went to wait at the coffee shop next door to come back to be seated once table was ready. I asked you about water and served you sparkling water myself, you did not want any drink when I asked you. I also asked you about the food and you were okay, you said. Making it hotter would have been taking it back to the kitchen and cooking it with more chillies, as simple as that. Please talk about the faults and we will make every effort to fix them, but please do not find unnecessary complaints.
If you are still here, please give us another chance and let us prepare the dish with heat level you wish for.

My wife and I enjoyed dinner last night at the Spice of India. My wife had the butter chicken and I had the Awahi lamb curry together with biriwami rice. The food was outstanding as was the courteous service. As mentioned by many others the curries were some of the best I have ever eaten in upmarket restaurants in London and the Midlands. The restaurant has a clay oven and produces delicious, thin naan. Very well run restaurant.

Dear Robert,
Many thanks for taking your time to write about your experience with us at the restaurant. It was good to take you in the kitchen and show you the Tandoor oven. It was also nice to talk to you about your knowledge of Indian cuisine.
Looking forward to seeing you again whenever you are in St. Lucia.

We ate here 5 times in a span of a 10 day trip. What's the point of going to eat at another place, when you have the choice to go to Spice of India. By far the greatest restaurant in Rodney Bay, if not all of St. Lucia! There is a reason this place is rated so high from those who visit. Spice of India delivers on all aspects of what you expect when you go out to eat: great atmosphere, excellent service, superb food and wonderful family. You are treated here is if you are family and you can't help but feel like you're being welcomed home when you come back. Yolander may be one of the best professionals working in the restaurant business today. She made sure that we were treated amazingly every evening. Spice of India can customize your food anyway that you desire. Let them know about any allergies or restrictions and they'll be more than happy to accommodate. The dishes are beautiful and the taste is out of this world. The owner, Adil Sherwani, is a master at delivering a quality experience. Our trip was certainly enhanced due to our dinner dining experience at Spice of India. We can't wait to come back!

The food here is very good but quite pricey.
1 starter, 2 main, 1 rice, 2 naan, 1 coke and 1 small water ÂŁ70
We also ate at the Razmatz which was round about the same price, maybe this is the norm for a Indian in St Lucia? l fail to see why. The restaurant is spotless and the staff are very friendly.

Due to new Covid curfew regs we decided to have a take away. Excellent food from this Indian restaurant. Very flavourful sauces and deliciously , fresh veg used in the food we ordered. The most wonderful aspect of our evening meal was that they delivered it to us at our hotel, very cheaply. A delightful young man drove the food to us and we can recommend the butter chicken and the lovely spicy spinach and chicken dish that I had . Excellent portions too. We definitely intend to visit the restaurant next time we are in St. Lucia.

Having had chicken jalfrezi all over the U.K. please correct me if I am wrong. I have had authentic food in southall to Quilon in London each time my extra hot jalfrezi came with birds eye chilli( hence extra hot) to some amazing tomato sauce but never stir fried to dry tandoori chicken with chilli flakes that I could bite in to! When I brought this to the attention of the owner my jalfrezi was taken back and brought back with no chicken but a ragu sauce of some kind??? The owners reaction was “ we gave you the dish back with what ever chicken you had left”???? “Oh and a jalfrezi is a dry dish that is stir fried”???? So all my life I have been eating a sizzling tandoori cubes of chicken with extra birds eye chilli. On the plus side the staff serving were amazing.

Good morning Elz, Thanks for your visit last night and writing the feedback right away. I am sorry that we didn't live upto the expectation of your Indian cuisine you have had around the world. I am just quoting this from wikipedia as definition of Jalfrezi--Jalfrezi is usually prepared by stir-frying ingredients, a technique introduced to the region by Chinese cuisine. Even your dinner companion told you that this is a dry dish and that's why she prefers it that way. And really, why would chefs take out the chicken from your dish? All he did was cook whatever left in your dish with some tomato onion based sauce as you had wanted it to be saucy. This is exactly what I told you last night.
We had dry chilies in your dish as well as fresh local green chilies (green chilles are not available all the time here, hence we improvise with substitute) because you wanted it extra hot.
Thanks for your visit and complimenting the team on the service. Hope we see you again and perhaps we can prepare the dish to suit your needs next time we see you.
Best regards,
Chef Adil.

We ordered the Samosa , The Chicken Butter & The Chicken Tikka Masala .
Very tasty food , the problem is that the portions are minimalistic for the price charged . We could not believe the portions & we are not big eaters .
$20 US for 4 small pieces of chicken meat in each order . Really ? $5US for a piece of meat ?
$4.50US for a samosa ?
Almost $6US for a small bowl of rice ?
$6US for ONE NAAN !
In Los Angeles at one of the best Indian restaurants in a prime location the portions are almost double & the chicken dishes we have are only $15US !
Everything is blamed on the pandemic & raised prices . In St Lucia you do not pay LA rent prices , US food prices or US staff salaries ! But you charge almost double . It sounds like taking advantage of the situation and tourists . People work hard & save to take a vacation and it is not fair to charge this kind of prices .
Lots of your reviews mention excessive pricing !

Hi Cruiser,
Thanks for your feedback and I am sorry that the portion sizes were not to your satisfaction. At lease you liked the food . Thank you for that. The portions have been standard since our opening 12 years ago and of course, some people will have problem with that. If you wanted more food, please order more. Nobody is blaming anything here on covid etc. These are the standard portion containers being used for take away in the restaurant. and have been for a long time. Stop comparing prices of food in different countries. You do not know how pricing works in each location. And yes, we pay LA rent prices, even more, in our location, more food prices than US for everything, more import taxes as everything is imported and more work permit etc prices for proper chefs to give you proper authenticity. You can swing by if you are still here and I can show you the price difference of food items between US and here. Nobody is taking advantage of any situation otherwise we will not stay in business for 12 years and stay on top on tripadvisor if we were in the business of taking advantage of any situation as you mention. We also work hard for our money like everyone and you are not unique in that . We offer fair pricing for the quality product we have been offering to our guests and it is comparable to other establishments in the area. Lastly, please come by and I will offer you free food ,same portions, but I am not prepared to accept being labelled as taking advantage of any situation because it is not right.
Best regards,
Chef Adil.

The atmosphere and ambiance were inviting. The owner personally came to greet each table and speak to us. The food was great, and we went there twice over our 1 week visit.
The food was fantastic, tasty, and authentically spiced. Our family is Indian, therefore, we were able to compare the tastes to our own food. There were many vegetarian and a few vegan options. This place is a little pricey.

As someone from Scotland who eats out frequently at Indian Restaurants back home this place is well worth a visit.
The chefs complimentary oinion bagies starters were so light and fresh, the lamb and chicken so soft, tender and fresh and the base of the sauce was perfect.
The staff and service are a measure of the quality of food and what I thought was $200 for the bill was actually 200EC, amazing value.
We're here for another week, so another visit is defo on the cards.

We went here during Covid restrictions so could only go for lunch. I think it is now open in the evenings until 10pm.
The set lunch looked lovely but was too much food for us so opted for starter and main. The taramind scallops were lovely as was my chicken dish which was light but very well flavoured. Just right for lunch.
We met with Adil and had a chat about the pandemic and the affect it had had on the industry. Luckily for Spice the restaurant attracts a loyal following of locals and the restaurant had been offering regular takeouts. Al lunchtime on a working day, the restaurant was 1/3 full which was a good sign.
The bill was very reasonable for what we had - on par with the uk - and far better value than the resort we were staying at.
Looking forward to returning next year.

On a whim, I wanted to try something different for lunch, so when I got a WhatsApp message advertising the day's menu from Spice of India, I just knew I had to go there. Was a great choice!
The food was delicious and satiating and the staff was so attentive and courteous. This was my second time dining at Spice of India. I am happy to say that I have never been disappointed.
