Took our grandson and his girlfriend here on our visit to Canberra. All enjoyed the food which was full of taste and certainly we didn’t consider to be small helpings. We were all quite full and satisfied. Good friendly service. Quite a pleasant experience.
The tables are well spaced making conversations easy. The menu has a good variety of dished to choose catering for all levels of 'heat'. The size of the meals were quite small, but nevertheless were very tasty and as ordered. The wait time was a...little long, given we were only a table of four and there were only two other tables with customers. But, the food was hot and as ordered. We had a trainee waitress who was unfamiliar with the dishes being served and had to ask the manager what they were - but everyone has to learn.More
Out of six dishes, (three entrees and three mains) there was only one which was worth merit: the goat dish. Everything else was either shockingly lacking in flavour and dry or just badly presented, including a lack of serving utensils. The Naan was good as...was the rice, but the servings for all the dishes were all laughably small (sharing, you'd be lucky to get a very small serve from a bowl; and we got one teeny, tiny bowl of rice for 4 people!) This was all topped off with very, very frustratingly slow and confused service. As an aside it is worth noting for those looking for a quiet evening out, the restaurant acoustics are terrible. There were two very large groups there on the evening we dined, which made for an incredibly noisy and unpleasant evening, particularly when you throw in tired, young children running around and adults shouting. Wouldn't recommend given there are quite a few better Asian/ Indian style restaurants locally.More
Thought of hosting an event at hungry Buddha. We discussed it with the manager and he confirmed that he can accommodate us for the event for that day and we have even gone through the menu. Reflecting on his words I have organised everything and...in few days when I rang to remind him and confirm the order the staff there said they have backed out on me and gave the venue for a larger group. We had to rush looking for another venue at the last minute. That was very disappointing, very unprofessional ☹️More

To celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary we wanted to do something different, we decided on the Hungry Buddha and being little cautious if it would be too hot we found with some assistance the most beautiful meal. All the food was so nice we will...definitely be recommending this restaurant. Nepalese food is so delicious.More
I commend the Hungry Buddha for opening during COVID. It's a big venue with lots of space for patrons to distance safely. Hand sanitiser at the door. We loved our dishes of Panek Paneer and Nepalese lamb curry. The saffron rice was also very good....Great stuff! Will come again!!More
This is a much better upstairs environment than their former place in the basement of Curtin shops. Food is much the same, though the "Beef vindaloo" was not as spicy as Indian vindaloo - but still nice and spiced. Many of the dishes are marked..."gluten free" - always welcome. WE had Tiger prawns simmered in the paste of traditional Nepali spices, lemongrass, lime leaves and coconut milk, plus chicken and a vegetable dish. Not overwhelming is portion size, so allowing a variety of choices. Well worth it.More
We were so pleased with all aspects of our visit, we will be back again! The service was excellent, the samosas and chicken dumplings are our entree favourites here. The Bheda ko masu and Gorkha beef are great starting points but everything is fantastic. Must...try if you live North sideMore
Last visit to the Hungry Buddha was delicious - I had their special dish which is like a Thali. Since then I have become vegetarian so we went there again as they have lots if vegetarian choices. We chose Malai Kofta and Mountain Eggplant, with...pilau rice and roti. I’m really disappointed to say the food wasn’t good this time. The kofta was bland, hard and crumbly - not like the beautiful, soft kofta we expected, and the eggplant dish was tasty but the eggplant under cooked. The roti, instead of being flaky was more like a japati. We chose their rice pudding for desert. The flavour was nice but it was really cold and the rice was a but undercooked. At the end if the meal, having spent $88 we were really disappointed. I will say the staff were really helpful and the service was great. I would love to support them again because I like to support local, but I will have to look elsewhere. I realise they don’t respond well to criticism so expect someone to reply with a rude comment, but it is what it is.More
My wife and I dined there tonight for our 6th wedding anniversary. The staff were extremely welcoming and polite. They were also very attentive and checked in on us appropriately to ensure we were comfortable. The food was great. Authentic is the best way to...describe it. I would highly recommend this gem. Friendly atmosphere and well spaced out tables which gives you privacy to converse with your fellow diners. Also has some nice mild nepalese music playing. This place really touched our hearts. We dropped into this restaurant as it was near to where we were finishing up some orienteering. It was a great choice. It's a nice big space, with tables spaced apart from each other to preserve privacy. Our dishes of fish curry and the eggplant/peas...were very yummy. Together with cucumber raita, tomato salad, pickle, naan and rice, we were well fed and for around $75 too (including drinks). Will come again if we're in the area.More

Amazing food and great genuine service. We will definitely be back. Particularly enjoyed the prawn curry.
