This is a local family doing their coffee and explaining the process. We were lucky to have Dina showing us around and taking the time to explain every single detail on how do they make their coffee. Make sure you also try their Queijada de Inhame

A visit to Cafe Nunes was worth the trip! It took about 30 minutes from Urzelina. The drive had scenic spots peppered all along and it was a pleasure to drive there. The last few km are on a windy road (watch out for cars coming the opposite way as the road is narrow), but the road is paved and I had no issues driving down (and up). It was great to visit the mini-plantation with Dina's explanations. I truly enjoyed the coffee and coffee pastries too. It's a family business, where all is done by hand. This explains the higher price of a coffee bag, if you want to take one home (you should!).

Unique place to try coffee grown in Azores islands the only place in Europe where it grows. Taste was really soft and the owner arranged us private tour to his plantation. They also make hand made carpets which are unique

If you get to this coffee plantation, take the time to do the short (15 minutes?) free tour showing the plantation and explaning the processes. It is a small family-owned business working hard and worth meeting.

As this is the only coffee plantation in Europe, this is exotic. The cafe is quite far but the view along the way is nice. The coffee is good but not really so different. Quite expensive so I did not buy to take home. Their pastries are good though.

It is definitely the one and only place in Europe! Being the only coffee plantation in Europe, not only Cafe Nunes makes coffee, but also various unique artesian craft. It is a small plantation growing enough coffee to have a small coffee shop where everything is done by one family. They work at the coffee shop, grow coffee, roast it and make a small tour around. When you are there, you truly understand what does it mean a family business made with love. I wish there were more places like that in the world, it would make it a better place

This cafe has some pastries and the coffee is delicious. The owner is very friendly. To find it, you'll have to drive down a windy road that doesn't exist on google maps. The easiest way is to follow the signs for Faja dos Vimes and when you get to end of the road just keep going. You'll be in a GPS no man's land!

As well as a cafe where you can purchase a cup of coffee (or a bag of coffee beans) and some homemade pastries, we were able to visit the small coffee plantation and see the beans drying on stone platforms. The surrounding area is stunningly beautiful and well worth the drive along the winding coastal road.

A bit of a drive to get to Faja do Vimes for a cup of coffee. Even so it is a beautiful road with scenic views. Café Nunes is a small quiet bar and the coffee was good. If you ask the owner, you can have a look at the coffee plantation behind the house. Don't expect too much of it, it is a tiny plantation. I also bought 100 gram coffeebeans for 10 €, which is really very expensive. I hope the coffee will be worth the money :-).

Cafe Nunes is located in a gorgeous Faja in the south of Sao Jorge. It’s a cute, simple little cafe, serving locally grown coffee. They also have some sweet snacks, like the horse shoe shaped cinnamon biscuits unique to the island (especies). I am in no way a coffee connoisseur, but I thought the coffee was pretty good. Strong and flavorful but not bitter. The owners didn’t speak a word of English, but we were lucky enough when a family member (we think) showed up who did. He showed us the small coffee plantation behind the house and explained some of the process. One of the only places in Europe (if not the only) were coffee is actually grown. A unique experience, and a relaxing stop on your tour of the island.

I had heard of Café Nunes which serves coffee that is locally grown on the island of Sao Jorge in the Azores and that it is one of the only places in Europe which grows coffee. I had a decaf, so unfortunately could not taste the coffee but my husband had their espresso. He was disappointed, I don't think the guy who was serving us knew what he was doing so the coffee was weak and didn't foam. I bought some coffee beans to take with me which I haven't tried yet. It was 10 Euros for 50 grams so I'm hoping that when I make this at home it will be work the money!

This cafe serves the coffee grown locally in Faja dos Vimes, one of the only places in Europe with a climate suitable for coffee plantations. The service was very nice and the cafe is quiet, an ideal place to relax!
