We stopped here on our way from Dangriga to San Ignacio. This is a great little place with delicious tamales. As said, on other reviews, the prices are amazing. They are different than Mexican Tamales, with the bones in them, but they are very good...and a great experience.More

On our way back from Hopkins, we were looking for a lunch spot when we spotted Bertha's. There were lots of locals, so we took that as a good sign. There is only one choice - chicken tamales, and not the "GRINGO" kind. These have...bones in them (for flavour) and lots of tender chicken. They were amazing. One of our party hadn't particularly liked tamales in the past, but she ate her own and half of her husband's second one!! She was impressed. At $3 each ($1.50 US), you can't eat much cheaper, or better than this. It's just a simple roadside stall with covered seating, but if you are driving by, stop and try some, or take some home for later. We didn't get any to go but were sorry later.More

Break up your drive along the Hummingbird Highway for some shade, breeze, cool drink, and excellent homemade tamales. Great flavor, all the right components, and really friendly people.

So glad our shuttle driver was willing to stop at this tamale stop! He ordered and brought the homemade hot sauce to the table. The chicken tamale was complete either the bones! Delicious! Want to stop on our way to the airport for breakfast, hot...sauce to take home and the t-shirt.More

On our drive from Placencia to San Ignacio we found several little stops about halfway. The tamales weren't my type of thing. They were a bit soupy compared to others. They were yummy, and I definitely encourage others to stop and try it out!! Bring...cash. It's a roadside stop. No bathrooms, small parking area (sort of), not an actual building. But it's authentic and a local place, so try it out!More

This is a roadside stop off the Hummingbird Highway. It has a bunch of tables for eating there. The tamales are wrapped in a banana leaf and warm with a large piece of chicken in the middle. Each tamale was just $3 Bz and two...will probably be enough to fill you up. They were delicious! Note that all they offer are the chicken tamales and soft drinks.More

This is basically a small roadside stop that sells only chicken tomales. They are very delicious and much different than Mexican tomales I’ve eaten. But it’s VERY authentic so be prepared for some or many chicken bones in your food. I’d still recommend this as...a good quick lunch. The price is also pretty cheap.More
