We went to Bloodwood as a small family group, immediately Service was spot on, we ordered cocktails and waited for one person in our group, once they arrived we moved to a table at the rear, Food was simply fantastic - the standout dish for me was the Roasted Prawns in Miso Butter, daughter is vegetarian and loved the sesame... We are in the fortunate position of having Bloodwood between the train station and our apartment. This is fantastic for our taste-buds as every single time we go, we have a fantastic meal, fantastic service and an all round exceptional experience, but somewhat bad for our waistlines as we have almost no willpower. I've had so many fantastic dishes at... More

Not on the usual tourist route but we were with friends. Bloodwood restaurant in Newtown, a very cosmopolitan area just outside the city was a great find. Unimposing, a little gloomy even, but brightened up when the food arrived. We had a selection of the sharing plates, a take on tapas. Plenty of choice and all good quality. Service was... More

Came here for the first time with some friends who had been before and wow what a shock. Seating is at a premium so you are very close to your neighbours but it just adds to the atmosphere! All the staff were awesome but one in particular who's name I can't remember was just fantastic. Helped us choose a selection... More

I visited here recently, had a truly extraordinary and delightful experience, and yet failed to immediately write it up with a glowing review. Tonight I dined elsewhere in Newtown - spending far more money than during my Bloodwood experience - and had a truly dreadful experience. This has prompted me to run to the keyboard to point out to all... More

Couldn't wait to visit, so much hype. Hype, this covers it best, the choice of beers is not huge, various yes, but not abundant. The dinner menu is, very chic, not so earthly or amazing, boring and very try hard. Had a few beers and left disappointed. Have a feeling you will to if you about quality not being seen.

This place is amazing in all aspects of dining. Have been here many times. The food is fresh and delectable. The service and staff are the best and know their stuff. Its always busy so you need to come early 6.30-7.00pm as no booking are available for under 8 people. Parking is available as soon as clearway finishes at 7pm... More

Nipped in on the offchance we could get seated, it was already busy around 7. The staff made us feel welcome and got us a 'front row' seat near the retractable front window so we had a great breeze throughout. Service was fast, friendly and our waitress knew everything by memory which was impressive. We had a few dishes and... More

I'm not the sort of person to write a negative review, I think if you've got nothing nice to say then don't say anything, however I cannot sit quite after the service we received at Bloodwood, I've never been treated like this in a restaurant before, and we would have left but didn't want to cause a scene. I went... More

If you're in Newtown (and even if you're not) this gem of a restaurant will not disappoint. Well priced menu with so many great choices you'll want to sample them all - or at least go back for another visit. Friendly staff too this great joint off. Definitely one to put on you're to eat at list.
