We had intended to go to a nearby place but it was not open for lunch. Here we found premises extensively tiled on floor and wall, giving the place a clean and smart appearance. The number of tables suggested an extensive clientele. the mixture of Asian and Anglo-Saxon diners suggested that the menu had a wide appeal. Personally,Thai curries are... More

For those in the know this little food house serves the very best of Malaysian hawker style food. I guarantee this will not disappoint. Not open Monday's and closes over January but do yourself a favor and try the authentic tastes of hawker food right here in Melbourne.

From the original Penang Coffee House near Swinburne Uni. to the present location further east along Burwood Road, I have been mesmerised by the quality of the superb kare (curry) laksa for many years. Don't worry about how plain and simple the restaurant appears - it is the food! Yes - I have tried really, really hard to sample other... More

Left here feeling rather unsatisfied. Laksa was a bit watery, the lamb curry was very gamey, while the chicken curry and rendang were quite salty. Unfortunately not the best representation of Malaysian food

Very good Laksa at Penang Coffee house today! It was clean and service very quick. I will be back there to try the Beef Rendang curry and a few other dishes!

Penang never fails to disappoint. Not the most romantic restaurant to sit in but the food definitely makes up for it. Take away is always good and big portions.

My wife and I have dined here regularly during the past 16 years. The owner, Sharon, usually come over to our table to say hello and have a short chat. This is a casual dining place.

For years this was our go-to local, we had a break then tried it again last week. Very disappointing. The beef in two of the curries in my mixed curry platter was gristly and inedible and the curry serves were small. One of our group said her chicken curry was very ordinary, but another said his Singapore noodles were pleasant... More

A place that I once loved has lost it.. Our last 2 experiences have been disappointing so it is on my list to not go back again.

This Malaysian joint is definitely the place to have a meal - great ambience, service is good and the owner Sharon is usually around to say hello. This restaurant has been a social hangout for us guys. We meet every month at the restaurant to chill out. Great food - at times if you know what you like to eat... More
