Very good location just in front of the sea.
The personnel was kind.
The plates were expensive at least in our opinion.
For example a plate with beans costed 6 euros and a small plate of fries cheese 5 euros.
I was there for several days and I ate really fresh and tasty fish, grilled, in ceviche (you have to try it) and also fried. It’s for sure the best place to eat in Komi Beach and maybe in all the island of Chios.
It’s...good to know that if you want to escape from touristic and overrated places, you should go to Karavela, plus the waiters are very friendly. Recommend it 100%More
I've been coming to Komi for over 20 years, and Karavela never fails to impress. Stamati, Costa (who have been here all this time) and the rest of the staff are always friendly and prompt. In all these years I've never had a bad experience....Fresh fish, octopus, and all the traditional Greek entrees are presented beautifully! I can't recommend them enough!More
I’m a ‘local’ with a summer house nearby and Karavella is what makes my holiday complete. Sunbeds on the beach, an idyllic setting whether it be for coffee or a wonderful fish meal, I look forward to coming back year after year. Thank you!
Food is ok, small fishes with caramelized onions, souvlakis, ham cheese plat... The octopus is sundried so don’t order it if you don’t like it sundried. The staff is not kind, the service was very slow even if the restaurant was not full when we...were there. The prices are fair, the ambiance is good if you sit near the beach. It’s not the best in Chios...More
We don’t recommend this place. It us a tourist trap.
We followed Tripadvisor’s ratings (!) when looking for a place to eat, but should have rather listened to the ”gut feeling” when seeing the place.
OK, it is nicely located at a beach, but the...beach was packed with people and so was the taverna. Along the beach there were other tavernas and bars, but the general atmosphere was ”sloppy”.
Anyway, we were hungry and wanted to see what Karavela could offer in terms of seafood.
We got a table and ordered ”vlita” salad, fava, fried kolokithi (squash), fried cheese and two grilled (and expensive) synagrida (=red snapper). What did we then get?
Well, it is hard to fail with the ”vlita” so it was OK. The ”fava” that was served was not real fava, but something similar, which the waiter later confirmed (!). The fried squash was too little fried and didn’t have any taste. The cheese was OK, but also hard to fail with. Last but not least, fish was grilled too much and dry like a piece of wood.
The bill was finally the most expensiest so far on the island.
It was far from a culinaric experience.More
