About
Almalomb is not a place. Almalomb is a family heritage, a 19th century water mill housing an event place and an apartment house. It is an out of the way place where life goes slower. Where we strive to do it right, which may take more time. Occasionally we also host concerts and other cultural events. Our walls are open for artists to exhibit their work. Just come as you are, as you want to be.

Im giving them 4 stars because during the process of booking (over phones and email) they did not inform me that their restaurant will not be open at all during our stay... I might have to add that the restaurants reviews and recommendation was one of the main reasons we came here...
But let me start at the beginning..
Upon arrival we were greeted by the very friendly owner who showed us around and gave us a tour of the property. It was at this point when we found out about the restaurant so it was a bit too late to make any changes in the booking...
So after taking our room we enjoyed the whole place in complete silence, sitting in the garden and sipping on lemonade the owner prepared for us.
Too bad we had to leave the place for dinner, so we had to drive to Pécs for that.
The room was small but cozy with a really cool modern feel to it. This whole place is still under development actually but it did not bother us at all, there was no loud construction work only garden work going on at this time.
In the morning we got the breakfast at the pre-discussed time, and the food was lovely, local ingredients, no egg ( i guess because of the closed restaurant) but everything delicious.
I sure hope we can come back another time, and then also try their famous restaurant.

We were not intended to visit Almalomb today but just dropped in and without a reservation still would be able to have a great lunch. And if I wanted to be really specific a special lunch.
In our region this is a true gem an exceptional dining experience. The decor reminds us of our time in some great British restaurant. A wonderful cosy place with great chefs and great staff.
Thank you we have our new favourite now😉

Would recommend this place if you visit Pecs. The food is tasty and well presented, you can see the menu online and book a table as well. To walk in their gardens and explore the old mill building is a program and experience on its own. Also a great place if you are looking for an event location! Big thanks to our waiters for the professional service and to the kitchen for the tastes. I wish many more happy guests for you! :)

I returned to the Almalomb after a few years .... I'm still delighted! The kitchen evidently develops and is still looking for new flavors to surprise guests. You can still see passions and lack of routine and boredom. Remarkable tastes, beautiful presentation of dishes, vibrant service and a very warm atmosphere. I recommend to anyone who is in the area!

We visited the restaurant on the occasion of our Grandfather's 90th birthday. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming, they went out of their way to help us having the best of the time by telling him the interesting story of the mill or presenting his birthday cake.We enjoyed their beautiful garden and equisite local specialities.

We visited on a summer afternoon. This is a back-of-beyond little village, by the surrounding houses, not even a prosperous one. Whoever starts a venture here has courage. The old watermill was renovated and transformed into a restaurant-in-the-garden (at least in the summer). The ambience is fine (although more trees would be welcome on the courtyard, esp. if the hot summers like this one continue), the building is renovated in good style. The restaurant itself has a short menu card which changes frequently. The dishes are inventive, well prepared and tasty. Portions not too big - a welcome deviation from Hungarian standard. Drinks list is carefully selected, with fine local wines. The only snag is that poor waiter was left alone, even though guests were coming and going - not a flood, but a steady trickle. He was a little overwhelmed. i wish more such places would try to survive - it is worth it. I wish Almalomb good luck- you fully deserve it.

It's exquisite place. History lingers, Morden & stylish deco with a large garden. It's great for kids!
And now the food. Everything was delicious. The starter was definitely my favourite, bone marrow on toast. Yummy!
The wine was also delicious.
It's a fantastic place. Loved it so much.

Arrived with high hopes, but wasn’t impressed at all. I think we ordered everything on the menu and tasted each other’s meal, but nothing I can recall or to be missed unfortunately. Server was kind though and helpful, but the kitchen needs much work to reach the average benchmark.

We had lunch outside and enjoyed the delights of this lovely restaurant. Staff speaks excellent English and chef is very creative in both presentation as ingredients. Reasonable prices and check the renovated water mill inside. Highly recommended.

We found Almalomb from Tripadvisor. As an old user I always check even in our hometown if there is something new, not to be missed. We felt so lucky with my husband to find this place through good reviews. Peaceful, beautiful, idyllic surrounding, high dedication for quality in ambiance, food and service. We cannot recommend enough. We had almost the same food as the in the previous review and it was fresh, homemade, modern.
We will be definitely regulars. Thank you.

If you visit Pécs, you have to visit Almalomb in Hosszúhetény (from the city center 10 minutes by car, 25 minutes by bus). It's located in a small, nice street of the village, a bit difficult to find, so it's good to check the location on the map before you go. Almalomb is operating in an old-old watermill: the family renovated it, and built a really nice and uniqe restaurant!
Time slows down here: like you step in an another world for realxing and enjoying the taste of the foods. They have a menu changing every two weeks. They use mostly local ingredients, mixing the traditional meals with new style.
It was a bit cold, so we took place inside: the waiters were really polite and nice. The meals prepared quite fast, it was fresh and tasty.
When you go to Almalomb, you have to see not just the food, but the area: the rooms, the building itself, it's really nice to escape from the workdays, and travel back in time for some hours.

The friendly village not far from Pécs, Hosszúhetény (..just over a thousand years old village...have fun pronounce it) is the perfect location to a hike to the beautiful hill nearby, and You wonder, where is the place to ease the hunger of the joyful trip? Well, You are lucky, Almalomb is just there in one of the mystical and quiet streets of Hosszúhetény open for visitors all year long.
