About
Northumberland cafe, located 800 yards from the A1 (signposted Rock), serving and selling local produce and fresh, homecooked food, including Pilgrim's Coffee. Alongside the cafe there is a gallery featuring Richard Dunwoody's photography of this fabulous county. A small shop, primarily of local products is also open for browsing. Ample parking, with plenty of tables in the cafe and in the garden (which enjoys fabulous views of the countryside) and very dog friendly - the garden features a dog agility course. We belong to the ''produced in Northumberland scheme'' and look forward to welcoming you.

Saw this little gem on facebook - turned out to be a fantastic find. Unassuming on the approach but maxes-out on a sunny-day with a real sun-trap of a garden and every bit of inside space put to good use.. Andrew and his staff are...great hosts, great food using traceable local produce - excellent ploughman's and ham & chees quiche!!! Highly recommend.More

We had been waiting for the cafe to open since we moved up here and were not disappointed on our visit today. Andrew and his lovely border collies made us and our border collie very welcome. The breakfast stottie and coffee were delicious. The sun...was shining and the garden has great countryside views. We will definitely be regular visitors!More

This is a great place just off the A1. The owners were very helpful and friendly. We had our dog with us and she was warmly welcomed. The owner's two collies came out for a play with our dog. We had a really nice lunch...in the garden. After we had finished, our 4 year old grandson was joined us. This was not a problem and lunch number two was produced. An excellent place to visit with or without a dog or grandson.More

Had a couple of visits for brunch at this cafe whilst on hols in Northumberland. Owner and staff so friendly and welcoming and food excellent. Highly recommend, and good for stop offs if travelling up the A1 too, as very close by (but not obvious!)

Utterly delightful visit to this beautiful cafe. Today was the last before lockdown and it was surprisingly sunny so we sat in the garden admiring the stunning views with our dogs. The people who run this absolute gem are the friendliest and kindest ever, who...clearly adore dogs. [There's a big difference between dog tolerant and dog welcome!]The owner's two charming collies also came out to say hello. The food was terrific -all homemade and locally produced. We had an all day breakfast stotties and a toastie with salad and both were delicious. Cakes and scones looked great too, but on this occasion we were completely full. We will definitely return at the other side of lockdown.More

Nice fresh local food. Lovely atmosphere. We would love to go back again when the weather is good. Lovely view from café.

Still great food and coffee, partaken in the ambient surroundings of one of the best cafes in the North of England. Good service and civility are the basis of the business. Don't just take my word though. Try it for yourself. Even if you are...accompanied by man's best friend, all are welcome.More

Decided to visit the rock horse cafe with my parents following a recommendation from other family members during a week up in Northumberland. It’s safe to say the recommendation was spot on with the Stottie breakfast (with added black pudding) being a lovely mix of...local ingredients to set me up for the day. Which when washed down with a nice cappuccino and accompanied by the great hospitality from the owner made for a great breakfast. Will be returning for sure when I’m next up in a few months time!More
