Once again our dining and lunch experiences were excellent. Every January when we return to the area My wife makes sure to reserve a table in advance especially Monday and Friday nights, which are live music nights. We both enjoy the atmosphere, food, drinks and of course the wonderful service and staff which always makes you feel welcome. Yes it gets very busy during the supper hours, so reservations in advance is a must. The "pizzaiolo" is one of the best at his art of making pizza. 🍕 We definitely & highly recommend and will be back again in January. Judy & James.

This is a popular restaurant serving great food. We booked as it is unlikely you would get a walk-in. I'm gluten intolerant so I tried the 4 cheeses GF spaghetti which was very tasty. My better half had beef lasagne which she rated highly, eating all of the large serving that would normally have beaten her. We were offered an interesting range of desserts but we declined being somewhat full. Price in keeping with other decent restaurants in the area.

We had an exceptional dining experience at Fish and cheeses The food was absolutely outstanding—each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The ingredients were fresh, and the menu offered a wonderful variety to suit every palate. The service was equally impressive. Our server, Bruno is amazing as is The entire staff.. attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, going above and beyond to make sure everything perfect. They made us feel welcome and well taken care of throughout the evening. We enjoyed it so much we had to make a second visit during our visit to Tamarindo… So if you’re looking for an authentic Italian restaurant with impeccable service, excellent Italian cuisine Fish & cheeses is for you..:)

This was our second visit to "fish and cheeses" Italian restaurant in Tamarindo. Our first visit was in November 22. We loved it then, and we love it now. We had the lobster ravioli, the Milano pizza, coffee alphaGato , and cappuccino. Everything is just so fresh and tasty. Prices are a little bit higher than most restaurants in Tamarindo, but the food quality and the service make it worth it. We also had some great music with live saxophone and guitar ensemble. This is a great restaurant, don't miss it when visiting Tamarindo

Every year we came back in January and eat at this fabulous Italian restaurant. My wife made 2 reservations months ago just to guarantee a place on Monday and Friday nights which are live music nights. This time we arrived with a family of 8 including a 9 month old granddaughter. The owners have extended the patio/ dining area which is nice. The food was fantastic, place is clean and the atmosphere is lively and the best of all is the service, cannot say enough about the service. The entire staff makes you feel welcomed and even remember you after a year away. The PIZZAIOLO makes the best pizza in Tamarindo and they have a great wine selection. We had supper twice here and ordered twice paninis and salad for lunch at the beach. What’s also great is the consistency of the food always great and always tastes great on each visit. Highly recommend and will be back next year ! FYI reserve early ! Great big thanks to Keivan and all the staff. Judy & James

We discovered the restaurant since it was walking distance from our hotel, Cala Luna Hotel. It's a short 5-7 min drive from Tamarindo center. The name threw me off and it's randomly located but I'm so glad we discovered this unassuming spot. It's also not just an Italian restaurant but also a specialty market offering Italian goods, wine, cheeses, meats, gelato, etc. Seating is on a cute patio sprinkled with tons of plants providing a very quaint and relaxing garden ambiance. There's also a wood fire oven in the back for their delicious pizzas! We came for lunch on a Wed and it wasn't crowded at all. Complimentary fresh bread with authentic olive oil from Tuscany was served. That olive oil was amazing! We ordered the mixed cheese and meats board, mahi mahi ravioli, and Brianza Pizza (mozzarella, baked ham and mushrooms). For dessert we had the coconut and pistachio gelato. Everything was delicious! The pizza is a MUST! It was sooooo good! Their house sauvignon blanc was perfect with our meal and for a warm day. We came back Wed night for wine and more gelato. It was more crowded for dinner but we were seated right away. Great spot for dinner or a night cap as well. Highly recommend this place.

Definitely make a reservation for this restaurant, we were lucky to have come early without one, but we saw many people turned away without reservations. The food is really good! I shared a greek salad and had lasagna for dinner. My husband had the tuna carpaccio and charcuterie board. My son had a pasta dish with pesto. It's interesting to eat here with the howler monkeys calling from the trees. Have some gelato for dessert, it was also delish.

Great food and great staff!! This little restaurant surprised all of us! I truly believe this place needs to be put more in the spotlight as they deserve so much! After each of us finishing our meal, we decided to order a tiramisu to share… ended up ordering a second one even though we were all so full!

Nice restaurant in Playa Langosta. Made reservations and went on a Saturday night, although they were not busy. Seated on a spacious deck with howler monkeys in the trees above. Server was friendly and efficient. We ordered two appetizers, which were a bit of a disappointment for all the hype. One was the cheese and meat board…two out of the three meats were tasty..maybe just preference but I don’t think Mortadella belongs on an expensive cheese board. We also ordered the homemade burrata. It was very disappointing…perhaps different than I’m accustomed to but not creamy at all and the exterior was very tough. We ordered a pizza - crust was light and crispy! Pumpkin raviolis were excellent. Tagliatelle pasta with tartufo sauce was also very tasty. The final meal was chicken parmigiana. My daughter thought the chicken was a very generic chicken patty and unimpressive. Overall - nice meal with some hits and misses.

We ate at Fish and Cheese twice while staying in nearby Tamarindo. The Calabria Pizza was amazing as was the Mahi Mahi Ravioli. Great service and live music on the two Friday evenings we were there. Fish and Cheeses is a short and safe 10-15 min walk from the heart of Tamarindo. If you are looking for a quieter lunch or dinner, this is the perfect place.

Located in Herradura Costa Rica. Upon entering the front entrance you might catch them making fresh pasta behind the huge cheese display case counter. The service was excellent! Waiter was very attentive and courteous. We started out with the Mediterranean salad and courteous bred basket. The salad was pretty good with a light red wine and olive oil dressing. The bread and bread sticks were okay. Four of us in the group of all, had 4 different dishes and shared. The Tortellini with the Bolognese sauce was very good, however the tomato sauce was not a heavy but a light sauce. Still very good! Depends on preference. The Chicken Parmigiana was cooked and flavored well. It came with mash potatoes which were not so flavorful. Perhaps salad or side pasta would be better with this dish. The Calzone was excellent and probably number one dish on the table. Presentation, flavor, and proportion was great! Everyone at the table like the fluffy crust especially of the calzone. The lobster and clam spaghetti special was okay. It needed a lot of help. Missing the garlic, the noodles were under cooked. The clams were small size and needed more garlic. The sauce for the pasta needed help. More garlic and lemon needed. The drinks were all good and reasonable. Great presentation on all good items. Very clean place. Definitely come back again.

We like Fish and Cheese so much we plan to have at least two meals there during our one week vacation in Tamarindo. Everything about this restaurant is exceptional. The seating is outdoors in a beautifully decorated plaza and both nites we had musical entertainment. The owner Walter is hands on and insures only the best ingredients are used. The pastas, and pizzas are fabulous and if there is lasagne it is a must have. There is also a specialty store that carries wines, charcuterie, gelato etc. We generally pick up a selection of meats and cheeses to have on our plane ride home. I thoroughly recommend you have at least lunch or dinner there. You will not be disappointed!

This a great place, a bit out of town but we’ll worth a visit. The name of the restaurant is odd but dates back to the time when the establishment was a deli but over time the restaurant evolved with tables outside the shop.Having read the reviews I was careful to book ahead of our arrival in Tamarindo and immediately got a very friendly email response from the proprietor. The food we had was excellent- bruschetta followed by spaghetti vongole and pumpkin ravioli with Gorgonzola and walnut sauce accompanied by a house wine which was a pretty decent Italian red. We finished with ice cream for which there was a huge selection and it was very good. Service was very friendly and the meal good value at $90.

We stayed at Capitán Suizo and were looking for a place to eat close by. I grew up in an Italian American family and don’t often choose to eat at Italian restaurants, but my husband is a big fan of Italian food. I chose the lobster ravioli and he chose the tagliatelle with clams. We both enjoyed our selection. The olive oil provided to dip the bread in was amazing! We also loved the tiramisu.

This restaurant offers an excellent array of choices of well prepared Italian food. The burrata is a highlight...home made. While restaurant does not offer a beach front view, the decks are surprisingly pleasant and separate from the road. The restaurant also offers a wide array of Italian foods for sale in its deli.
