During 7 years wintering at Langosta Beach we have watched changes at the restaurant corner across from La Esquina Villas… waiting for something truly special to join the local food community. It has finally arrived with KHIPU “Peruvian Cuisine”. We were skeptical at first but...by our second visit we were convinced that this is the real deal… unique, well prepared and delicious fare that you won’t find anywhere else in the Tamarindo area. If you are tired of the same old menus, treat yourself to Khipu’s elegant atmosphere and friendly, sincerely helpful owner and staff.More

This place is new but worth a try. The food is very good and worth it. The staff is new and learning so have patience, if they don't do something exactly as you prefer just ask and they will fix it. Went here a couple...of times and enjoyed. The owner even whipped up a traditional Peruvian cocktail for me to try. He is very nice. Again food deliciousMore

The fantastic, classy atmosphere was also relaxed and comfortable and has excellent service. Every dish they suggested was delicate and flavorful with the perfect combination of textures.

Amazing ceviches. My Thai tuna ceviche rocked. We have a home in Langosta and we are glad to see more quality restaurants offering new cuisine. Mageli (SP?) was very warm and attentive.

My husband and I chose this restaurant because it was a short walk from our hotel (Cala Luna). The setting is nice and there was live music playing, which was a nice touch. We enjoyed the pisco sours (the first round was buy one get...one free) and our entrees, particularly the grilled octopus. The service was not great, however. Initially, our server was very attentive but then disappeared halfway into the meal, forgetting to bring us the drinks we ordered. We flagged someone else over, but it took a while to get that second round of drinks. At the end of our meal, we flagged down yet another person and asked her for the check, but then she disappeared as well! It wasn’t particularly busy so we weren’t sure why this happened to us. Food is good but make sure you’re not in a rush!More

Perhaps we were there on an off night, but we didn’t enjoy the food. The fish didn’t seem fresh and the chicken was unremarkable. Service was average and nothing special. Perhaps the restraint will continue to evolve, but it’s unlikely we will revisit the restaurant...on our next visit.More

This location has had much turnover in the years we have visited the area. The theme is now Peruvian. Most of the food was very good. One of us had risotto with a mix of mushrooms that was heavenly. I had mahi mahi. The accompanying...dark rice and sauteed vegetables were perfect but the fish seemed a bit overcooked or a day too old. Pisco sours were as good as they get but priced at $10. There were six white wines on the list but none of them actually in stock. All they had was a french sauvignon blanc that was too acid and sharp for our tastes. Service was friendly and attentive but knowing some Spanish helped. Nice that they have a children's menu. One wall has a beautiful representation of quipu, the Inca system of record-keeping with knotted cords, done in a rainbow of colors. The rest of the room was plain and could use further decoration. Khipu has only been open a few weeks. We hope to find a more mature product when we return next year.More

Thank you for your opinion, it always helps to improve. About the fish, seems weird as we buy fish everyday and dont work with frozen products. And you are right, we opened a month ago against all odds and there are still a lot of...More

This new Peruvian restaurant had delicious unique food and great ambiance. 10 minutes outside of Tamarindo and well worth the drive. We had the catch of the day, octopus, shrimp salad, and Thai ceviche. All were wonderful.

We walked to Khipu from our place in Playa Langosta and had our first taste of Peruvian food. Wow! We enjoyed fresh tasting salad, Thai ceviche with coconut milk, and octopus with sublime sauces on each. The covered open air setting allowed for cooling breezes,...and the spacing of the tables provided an intimate atmosphere. We even learned what Khipu provided to the Incans. Definitely worth a visit.More

10 of us stopped here last night on jan 31. No reservation and took us right in. This was the best meal we have had yet. The steak lomo was fabulous. The traditional ceviche was the best I've had here over the 9 years coming....Everyone loved meals. Magaly gave us outstanding service and kept her cool with a table of 10. All meals came together and were hot. This some times on big group can be a issue in Costa Rica. Great job to kitchen staff on quality, presentation and timing. Reasonable pricing on food. Cocktails a little higher at 4200c for rum. Cant wait to return.More
