Bistro Chef of the co-owner Erik Volko in the centre of Zvolen offers quality gastronomic experience in an untraditional form. We have cosy interior with an open kitchen and team burning with passion for gastronomy. During warm days you can enjoy your relax out on the terrace. Everyday changing menu is an ideal combinationof modern gastronomy taking into account the current trends of healthy dining. It consists of an appetizer, soup, two main courses and a dessert. In the evening you can enjoy the seasonal á la carte menu which changes regularly. The kitchen emphatizes quality ingredients, freshness, seasonality, combination of interesting flavours and home made production. Fresh bread and pastry are baked every day, we prepare own pasta, burgers, spreads, lemonades. We are looking forward to meeting to and excited to spend time with you.

Restaurant worthy of attention

This restaurant offers extraordinary service, based on traditional personal style. Food is superb and overall impression is excellent. Especially food selection is sort of art and combination very decent tastes.

The place is located directly on the main Zvolen's square, with a terrace in the back yard. Reaervation was possible, but not necessary. Inside was very warm, which forced us to leave earlier as planned, which is the only reason not to give perfect score. The crew was attentive, all ordered food was delicious, well presented.

Nice casual restaurant

I think this has rebranded itself "Pappa's Mediterranean Bistro" (both on-site and Instagram but not everywhere else), at least it looked like the same place when I arrived. It's a nice casual restaurant. The food was good - mushroom soup, duck breast with pumpkins and tiramisu. The first two of these were great, the tiramisu was well presented, tasted good but was swimming in liquid. The staff were polite and attentive even though the restaurant was full on a Friday evening. If I had to be critical of anything, it would be the limited choice of 2 deserts compared to the Season Restaurant just round the corner.

After our experience with Bistrochef, we definitely ate there for the last time. Service nice, but slow, the price of food absolutely did not match the quality. The staff had to be reminded that we had no cutlery on the table and therefore we had nothing to eat. The waiting time for food was also above standard, as long as there were a minimum of guests in the restaurant. The second couple who was with us ordered a tartare, after which, as they informed us, they both vomited the next day. I ordered sweet potato chips to my burger, which they brought me when I had already eaten half of the burger, and it wasn't even sweet potatoes but usual. After being alerted to this problem, they brought sweet potatoes, when I had already said everything, that they were at the expense of the company, but they still included them when paying. We left the expected peaceful evening very disappointed…

We use to visit at least twice a month. Today, it was disaster. Too long to be welcomed, too long to order, too long to be served, finally mistake and wrong drinks served. No apologies, only insisting i am served what i did order. Heard from the table next door as waitress asked if they enjoyed and after their reply “not really” she responded: you are the first! Dear Bistro Chef, you might think you are the best restaurant around but you are very far from it!

Fantastic Service was super. Came there at 20:30 and the restaurant was supposed to close at 21:00 We ate and finished 21:50 and the staff wasn’t in any rush! Good food, ate beef fillet, good quality in meet

A very nice place with good and tasty food. The dessert was very interesting. Friendly and polite staff. We didn't have to wait too much for our food. Prices were also very fair.

Good choice of dishes, but their cheeseburger is a (our) favorite. Tasteful and good value for money. The service was a bit rushy, maybe they were a bit short in staff.

Excellent food! A very pleasant surprise, nice location and decoration, very good service and superb dishes, better than ones from famous restaurants in Western Europe. The dishes are made based on products from their own farm or from local sources, very tasty and fresh. Thanks for the experience and good luck for the future!

Burger Dream in the middle of Zvolen - and not only burger ...

We discovered tips to check this restaurant here @TripAdvisor ... user reviews fully matched the reality - or better to say - the reality was even better than expected. We (as usual) took our preferred choice - hamburger. "Unfortunately" there were double burger only :-))) and it was really double. Made medium as requested, perfect finetuned, full taste, ... go and try yourself. BTW, we returned next evening and enjoy the meal again the same perfect way

Something unbelievable!!!!

I was on the way to Bratislava and felt hungry. So I have called my friend and asked for advice where to go. So he went to TripAdvisor and send me address to this place! I am telling you I have seen lot of places, but what you will get here is just indescribable!!! I have tried pho bo, the best ever and the main course so simple and delicious!!!! Thank you

Tasty lunch

We had lunch here after visiting Zvolen castle/galery. Lunch menu was quite limited to one soup, one starter and just two main dishes, one desert but quality and taste of the food was excellent. Service also very nice and friendly.
