All excellent - an ecologist and an excellent cafe with ''to-die-for -food.'' Best Mussel Chowder in New Zealand and i have tasted many in our 2 months! We opted for a lazy day exploring the island and Cafe Motu had been recommended by both the locals and tripadviser. We stopped in for brunch and the place was buzzing with locals on their weekly visit (and cards game), to heaps of tourists also checking out the place. This little plave is in the middle of a rather dry area, and was a delight to find. Particularly recommend the iced coffee, although the milkshakes were godd as well. Relaxed atmosphere and good food.

It was nice to suddenly come across the cafe. Nothing else in the area like it. It made a nice pleasant stop to have a rest a coffee and bun.

We drove past, and made the effort to go back - and we're so glad we did! The hosts are charming and pleasant, and the food was just delicious. They were happy to accomodate dietary issues, and insisted we were welcome to stay past their 3pm closing, till the pouring rain eased. It's a bit hard to see the cafe... More
