Nice place to take a break for a moment. The choices for food were a bit basic but just enough. The staff was very friendly and compared to the restaurant at Geysir there was a lot more place here to sit and eat in peace....The soup and the banquette were very nice.More

Very good location next to the Gullfoss waterfall, with a cafe-restaurant and a shop. Once you have seen the waterfall it is good to take shelter here have some warm food and drink, freshen up. They have mostly cold food and few hot meal ,...rather expensive. The staff are extremely fast and counter service is very efficient.A nice stop to have a cup of hot coffee or hot chocolate . Can be very busy when the busses comes in. There is also a large souvenir and gift shop.More

After seeing the spectacular waterfall on a cold late winter day with a biting wind roaring off the frozen lava fields, we were ready to try the famous Icelandic meat soup. Our daughter in law had recommended it and it was as she described. Full...of root vegetables and pieces of lamb, it was both tasty and satisfying.More

Having visited the amazing falls my wife and I headed to the cafe for some lunch. We were advised by one of our tour guides from a previous trip to take our own food because of the outrageous prices being charged to tourists. This we...did and made ourselves inconspicuous at a table down the far end. We were just quietly enjoying our baguette when a rather rude kid abruptly told us to leave as we were 'breaking the law'. Not wanting to make a scene we left and I said to the lad that he should treat his customers with a little more dignity. He promptly turned around and said perhaps I should learn to read the signs. Touche. However.... Note to the manager. 1 Please do not advise this lad to go into PR. He wouldn't be an asset to any company. 2. Sent him on a customer liaison course. 3. Remind him who pays his wages. 4. Make your signs bigger. 5. Stop ripping off your main source of income, then perhaps your revenues would increase! The young waitress was a little more sympathetic when we asked her where we could finish our lunch. However she could only offer us an outside bench. Not very customer friendly when it is minus one and the snow is coming down in buckets! We were disappointed with the reception we received to say the least. Beware fellow travellers!More

Small cafe part of the visitor centre / souvenir shop. They couldn't make an oat latte as it's made by a machine rather than using fresh grounds so just had a black filter coffee for 470 ISK. The cakes looked delicious! Polite and helpful staff,...pity about the yobbish Scot who thought it acceptable to push through the queue to ask staff how much a calendar was. Lovely gifts for sale.More

The cafe is attached to a fairly large souvenir shop. I tried the coffee. Expensive but a nice way to warm up after freezing conditions outside. Efficient, young people serving customers. Good selection of healthy food to eat there or takeaway.

Clean, tidy, good loos, nice selection of refreshments, warm shelter. What more do you want? Good store too, prices not too bad for Iceland (cheaper than the airport too). Quite fun if weather bad to spend some time here.

We stopped here for a quick meal after making the trek back up from Gullfoss. Was disappointed to see that the restaurant was closed for renovations, but relieved that we could still order cafeteria style. We all got the lamb soup and bread and shared...a couple desserts. The soup hit the spot even though it was a bit expensive compared to other soups we'd had on the trip, but the desserts were delicious. Because of the renovations, its kind of a tight fit between ordering food and all the souvenirs, but basically the whole restaurant was available to sit in and eat after you get your food. Also, the bathrooms are still available for paying customers. Wish we had known that before paying for the public ones.More

My fiancé and I stopped in for a coffee to take away. The staff behind the counter were rude and just standing around as if they didn’t want to be there. I ordered and we were given one coffee and she asked if I wanted...anything else. Yes, another coffee she rudely said it’s coming and walked away. I stood there watching my coffee in the push a button machine. I asked for my coffee sitting there and another guy finally took it and handed it to me with an attitude and slammed the lid on the counter. Disgusted with their service and expected more than a push a button coffee machine for options.More
