A spur of the moment decision.

Having enjoyed a cup of hot chocolate at nearby Rumsey's (a regular pleasure whenever we come to Wendover) we decided to have some lunch at this delightful little tapas restaurant which we had noticed before but never tried. We didn't have a reservation since this was a spur of the moment decision but this didn't phase the young lady who greeted us and she showed us to a table and asked us if we would like something to drink whilst we perused the menu. Since neither my wife or myself drink alcohol, we opted for a bottle of fizzy water each which was brought to us promptly. We were also offered some bread and or olives whilst we decided on our food both of which we declined. For our light lunch we ordered some patatas bravas, a dish of sweet peppers in a spicy sauce and some calamari. Once again, these were delivered to our table with a cheery smile and courteous service. All three dishes were delicious and very authentic. I don't know if the chef is actually Spanish but it wouldn't surprise me to discover that he or she Is. Having enjoyed the food very much, we then ordered a coffee each and asked for the bill which was very reasonable. We both agreed that this restaurant is yet another asset to this wonderful town and we would be happy to return very soon.

Great food, atmosphere and service

Went for dinner with my wife to celebrate her birthday. Had such a great experience! The food was exceptional, the atmosphere was relaxed and the service was amazing. Even more pleasantly surprised that the bill was much less than expected for such high quality food, Can I also say a big thank you to the team there for making us feel so welcome and being so attentive!

Having seen one or two reviews from disappointed diners I am happy to say that we had an excellent meal last night. We had the Cider Pressed Pork Belly plus 4 other tapas, and with desserts this was enough for us. All were extremely good, as was the service from the young waiters. The total bill was just over £100 but that included cava and a glass of wine each. We have recently eaten in two other tapas restaurants, one in Buckinghamshire and another in South London: all are totally different, all extremely good. All serve the basics: patatas bravas, jamón etc. but the London one had some more imaginative but authentic tapas on offer, which made a pleasant change. Nevertheless we would happily return to the Tres Corazones: there were plenty of people there and the atmosphere was pleasant. A good place to eat outside on a warm evening.

Very poor value food and service!

We booked a table for 3 at 8pm on Friday eve. The restaurant was about 25% full. Service was really poor given the few tables that were occupied. I paid £4.50 for 2 of the smallest croquettes I’ve ever seen and £14 for 3 medium sized sardines! Our two others paid over £17 for a piece of rump steak which was served alone! So another side dish had to be purchased. Together with a bottle of wine, the bill was £105. We had consumed nearly a bottle of wine before the food eventually arrived - when we tried to hasten our meal - the excuse was that sardines take a long time to cook! Needless to say, this will be our last ever visit to Tres Corazones which has been going downhill for a while and is now just taking the p***

Nice staff, below average food

We went expecting homemade Spanish tapas but its local reputation for decent food has not stood the test of time. The menu looked great but what arrived was re-heated Brake-Bros fare, sloppy, no flavour, completely uninspired. Confirmed by the staff who explained the original family who created it have moved on to another location, its clear the passion and talent have left the kitchen. The bill was a stinger. Won't be returning. Amersham's Pluma a better spot for Spanish food.

Lovely food but left feeling disappointed

Lovely food and the service was good but please don’t get caught like we did by ordering the house white wine thinking it was £18 a bottle but we were then charged £25 . When I questioned this apparently the house wine is only available at that price in their happy hour . The drinks menu is very misleading and this is not made clear . The discretionary service charge of 12.5% is automatically added to the bill . I would prefer to add it myself and avoid an uncomfortable situation where it may need to be removed or made into 10% .

Great food, well run

We have been going here for years as it is very local for us, and it's better than ever. The manager has it well run and always makes sure diners are well looked after. The food is delicious and the weekday lunchtime menu is especially good value. The big bi-fold doors and position at the top of the high st. makes it a perfect place to sit and watch the world go by. Most importantly, it's just something a bit different in a world of bland pub menus.

Great staff, relaxing atmosphere, varied menu - and tasty food!

I booked a meal “sans enfants”, the booking was easy and I was able to inform the restaurants of dietary requirements. The welcome was great, the way they dealt with the dietary needs was very attentive and sensitive - the staff was brilliant overall. The menu is varied and "manageable". The food was tasty and well presented, the chickpeas were brilliant. The wine list was also very good, with great choices. We had a relaxing time with excellent food.

Appalling customer service

Used to be one of my favourite restaurants. However, our close friend received terrible news from the hospital yesterday (this was also her favourite restaurant). We travelled overnight for 5 hours to visit her by surprise and take her for dinner here. I called to book a reservation after the online booking reservation kicked us out then I called the restaurant last night (Thursday). The member of staff who initially took my call was nice and told me they are full but she'd speak to the restaurant manager and he'd ring me tomorrow (Friday) to see if they could accommodate us. Objectively, I noted my request for a table was last minute and offered to pay the restaurant for the equivalent of two or three tables - as all we wanted to do was put a smile on our friend's face after receiving such terrible news. I just now received a 'phone call from the restaurant manager. He was one of the rudest people I've ever come across. He thought it was shocking that I'd even try to book so last minute and began raising his voice at me that there are no tables for my guests. When I asked him for his name he hung the phone up. Absolutely shocking behaviour from a restaurant which we have had nothing but fond memories and great food.

Such a shame

Our whole dining experience was shocking, almost laughable based on how unprofessional the manager is. We were moved from our table, after having it confirmed we could stay where we were. When moved there wasn’t enough table settings or chairs to seat us all and when we moved one of the chairs from another table, the manager made it quite clear he wasn’t happy. Eventually he offered us our first drinks on the house (though there was only four out of eight of us that had one). We must have been asked at least 30 times if everything was ok with our food, which felt a bit much and like we were being pestered. My husband was still finishing his main meal when we were offered dessert. When we asked if we could wait until he had finished, we were promptly told that the table was needed back by a certain time…though it was fifty minutes away. We therefore left without any dessert or doing the cake I had bought to celebrate my husbands birthday due to felt being rushed out the door. The food was ok, definitely less authentic and not “made with love” like it used to be. The waiting staff are all young and friendly, for many it seems like their first job in hospitality. Unfortunately they are being trained by under skilled management team which won’t give them the best start to their careers. This restaurant used to be amazing, great food, great front of house, great ambiance - it had it all. Safe to say, all that has been lost and we won’t be returning.

Great birthday treat

Went for a birthday meal with friends. A really good atmosphere on a Saturday evening without being too loud or overbearing. Half of the party were running late (sorry on their behalf!) but the manager and staff sorted things out for us - we had some small bits before they arrived. Everything was so good, all the different food we had came out perfectly and was hot, tasty and looked brilliant. The drinks were so good as well I actually searched online to get a bottle of your Cava!

Extremely disappointing

Oh dear. This establishment promises so much and just does not deliver. The young member of staff who we first encountered on entering the restaurant was terse at best, 'couldn't care less' at worst. Not a good start. The service was pretty much the same manner throughout. It was like as if we were an inconvenience to her conversations with her colleagues. The restaurant was fairly empty for a lunchtime, so not much of an atmosphere. The food is just so mediocre for the price, that it really isn't worth it. A place to avoid.

Very disappointing

We had a meal for our wedding anniversary at Tres Corazones this week and all I can say was what a disappointing experience The menu now is limited at best particularly for vegetarians like myself. The service was slow, we asked for a glass of ice 3 times! We were bought a dish we hadn't ordered, we informed the waitress we didn't order it for her to 5 minutes later come back and argue that we had ordered it. As avid tapas fans that lived in Spain for 5 years we knew exactly what we had ordered and don't expect to have a waitress insist we were mistaken The actual food was mediocre - the ribs my husband ordered as a meat eater were literally smothered in salt to the point where they were inedible. The tortilla was burned on the outside and like scrambled egg in the middle. The calamaris was tasteless and like it was frozen and then deep fried. What a shame as this restaurant used to be one of our favourites

We really enjoyed our visit, Food was great and young waitress was very attentive and friendly. Got a free glass of cava for birthday which was unexpected but nice surprise. Very quiet compared to previous lunchtime visits (only 3 tables taken) so maybe needs some extra midweek deals to entice more customers? Only thing lacking was a Spanish ambiance as music was English 60s pop rather than traditional Spanish

We used to eat at Tres a lot when Alba was the manager so this was the first time visiting in the last 6 months. The food was great, really would recommend the chickpeas and oxtail! I thought the service was a little slow and we had to keep asking for food/drinks instead of someone acknowledging we might have needed a drink. The waiters and waitresses were great although the pressure from the top did filter down onto them which was sad. It would be great if the whole menu was revamped and maybe the management need to speak to their staff a little nicer
