Sunday lunch could not of have been better. Catered for all, including a young baby. Outstanding quality and presented to a high standard. Could even be a Michelin starred restaurant. Portion sizes were good although some could say a slightly small. Will return for any occasion

I have the chance to visit them all! my favourite rest the Green, sentimental reason! After few years of absence I was wandering if anything bad happen to the white oak. Fortunately, all was well even when you know no one as they all move on but the atmosphere stayed. I will be visiting the others Oaks and hope to... More

Living just a few miles away I am not sure why I haven't been here before. The restaurant is elegant with a really nice ambience. The welcome, staff and service were exemplary. My friend and I chose the roast cod, with ruby chard, puree of sweetcorn, oyster mushroom, mushroom ketchup and mashed potato. The cod was cooked to perfection and... More

I visited for lunch with a friend who had no choice but cancel at the last minute. It was on their recommendation we visited and as I was already outside, I decided to go it alone! The staff were understanding, and welcomed me to either sit in the restaurant or the bar. I decided on the latter as where better... More

Thought we would try steak night and glad we did. Service was very friendly, food was really enjoyable and also good beers on tap, what more could you ask for. Will definitely come back again.

The service was excellent. The ambience was excellent. The beer and wine was excellent BUT the food was bloody awful.. The chips were clearly cooked yesterday. The Bouillabaisse was dreadful.. I could go on but it was rubbish Dont shoot the messengers .. You have excellent staff. Two recommendations 1)Ask the Chef to visit the Gerrards Cross restaurant 2)Fire the... More

We came across this pub because the next door neighbor the Old Swan Uppers seemed to be very full. Frankly I was not too impressed by its outside appearance and a few cars parked front. I was not sure about the "Modern British Pub" description on its menu. The interior is a bit odd in my opinion, with quite mixture... More

Really love it here. We had the £15 three course lunch on a Saturday and the food was great, the staff were friendly and we left feeling full up! Would highly recommend.

Set just over the causeway from Cookham high street , the White oak is a comfortable modern pub with a good size restaurant and a relaxing bar area. Went for lunch on a Saturday and the restaurant was busy with a good atmosphere. The staff here are really welcoming and attentive. We went for two steaks , a rump and... More

Description
Bridging the gap between country inn & local restaurant, The White Oaks has established itself as a local favourite. The White Oak is an independent and contemporary 'Gastro Pub' where the kitchen & service sets out to please, & covers all bases from pata negra ham & goats chees and walnut salads to chicken liver parfait & their signature roast chicken ravioli. For mains lots of fresh fish features including Whole Lemon sole, whole Dover Sole and Hake as well as the Suckling Pig Belly to share & daily made pies along with Aubrey Allen British Highland free-range steaks. If that's not enough the desserts tend to be classic but executed very well including creme Brulee, pannacotta and excellent brioche donuts. Set menus also offer decent value (£14/16 for two/three courses at lunch and £19/21 at dinner) running alongside the A la Carte menu. The traditional Roasts is served on Sundays alongside the A La Carte. There's also plenty of good drinking on the Corney & Barrow wine list (look for Delamotte Grand Cru Champagne, Archaval-Ferrer Malbec, & 'Psi' Tempanillo from Michael Sisseck) and a barter bin where you haggle for top end clarets (one has 98 parker points!). The dining room's taupe shades, thick pine beams, cream chandeliers and widely spaced, bare tables match the food's smart, unfussy tone, while warm, engaging staff and a compact, broadly priced wine list also fit the bill.
