Our review is based on two nights - the first visit for food, the second, we didn't stay. The atmosphere the first night was fabulous - really friendly, welcoming and fun. We hadn't booked and decided to sit in the bar (we wanted to check out the atmosphere). The beers on offer were great and the bar staff fantastic. The... More

Friendly welcome, from staff and customers! We arrived with our dog in main door but were welcomed by bar staff, who guided us to the public bar via staff corridor and made sure that our dog had biscuits as part of the welcome. In the rustic bar area, we were overwhelmed with the beer choices - my husband was like... More

Meats cooked to perfection, absolutely inspired menu, even for the simplest tastes. Turkish delight cheesecake, fantastic.

We must be invisible as we were treated that way. We were seated and waited 15 minutes to receive a menu with an apology. The menu comes with a warning to expect to wait. Fair enough. We waited another 15 minutes for 2 glasses of wine. We had to constantly politely wait amd called for amy service, none was offered.... More

We have visited the Black Isle x2 within the space of 18 months and both times went to the Anderson for dinner twice. We specially recommend "Mildred Pierce "chicken and waffles and the chocolate pecan pie is absolutely delicious . I'd say have it with vanilla ice cream , it comes with chocolate but thought it might be a bit... More

Visited the Anderson on 3 evenings last week in June. We were staying in the campsite in Rosemarkie and the walk into Fortrose to eat at the Anderson was well worth the effort, especially after standing watching the dolphins for an hour or so. The pub has a great welcoming "homey" atmosphere and is obviously a well appreciated part of... More

We have been to The Anderson every time we have been in the area, and it is an experience to be recommended. The hotel has a huge selection of malt whiskies (and I mean HUGE) also a large selection of beers, and the wine list is wonderful. The food is locally sourced and beautifully cooked. Dining here is a lovely... More

Having visited this restaurant last year and been extremely disappointed, we were convinced by friends to give it another try. I am please to say that our experience was Much better this time. Nothing spectacular offered on the plate but the service was good and the evening was pleasant. If I could I would have given this restaurant 3 and... More

I would have loved to have left a glowing review like so many others have. We were genuinely looking forward to staying here - quite some time was spent on choosing our base for a 4 night stay in Highlands. The reviews left us absolutely certain that we were in for a treat. A hotel with character and individuality. Fantastic.... More

Don't be put off by the outside, walk through the front door and you have the choice of a well appointed restaurant with blues music playing quietly in the background, or the noisy charm of the whisky bar. Whichever you choose the menu includes an unusual fusions of flavours (duck with raspberry sauce or rabbit with feta cheese and chocolate... More

I know, the outside of the building IS a bit scary, isn't it? It seems to resist any effort to clean it up. Ah well, we're glad you braved it to find the charms we hide within. Hurry back! More
