Have wanted to visit this restaurant for some time after visiting to play petanque one evening. Whilst the pub has recently changed hands, it appears the new owners are set to carry on with the best traditions of the previous owners. The visit was a birthday treat for my wife so expectations were high. They were not disappointed as the... More

New couple at The Pheasant Mark and Debs just taken over this iconic pub, after it was sold by Simon Ollie Oughton. This Is only their first week with food. Early days but Alison helping Mark in kitchen and Charlie helping Debs behind the bar. Limited menu at the moment until they find a chef, but boy did Alison and... More

There is not a pub around to match The Pheasant for consistently high standard of food from the kitchen. The pies are always well presented with a good selection of vegetables. The fish and chips similarly are always well served with a light perfect cover of batter. Also their other fish assortment and variety of game are worth trying. And... More

Good atmosphere, good food (when it arrives!), attentive service if you are a regular, not so if its your first time I guess. I've been a couple of times to The Pheasant and have always enjoyed good food and a pleasant atmosphere, albeit increasingly UKIP these days. I thought I would take my partner there for her first visit. The... More

The food in The Pheasant is always outstanding. Everything is home cooked and fresh. The atmosphere is great, it is always busy during lunchtimes so it is best to book. The staff are really lovely.

We went here for my Birthday lunch as we have eaten at the King William IV down the road on previous occasions and thought we'd try it. It was no mistake! We had a warm welcome from the licensees of this lovely country pub together with a welcoming roaring fire. There were some interesting dishes on the menu, including a... More

Pleasant surroundings. Interesting menu and excellent food. The day I visited only one member of staff was on duty due to illness and I was impressed by her calm manner and efficiency.
