Following their new building and major upgrade, this is the best place to eat in McCarthy. Best food and friendliest staff!!

The new Roadside Potatohead is unquestionably a great asset for McCarthy, both from a facility standpoint and a location standpoint. They have been very busy this season, although they have lots of room both inside and outside they do need extra space, which they have plans for. Their quality tables and chairs are unique in that they are made out... More

I chose a veggie option which was rather heavy on lentils & light on other ingredients. Several other folk in our group had the sausage & mash & were very pleased. They especially enjoyed the brussel sprout topping. Service was quite prompt.

I had dinner at this restaurant twice during my stay. The staff is very friendly. I can recommend the miso salad with salmon if you are looking for a healthier option in a town that otherwise tends to be into the big meals. Really nice place.

This was not our first choice of restaurant in the tiny little town of McCarthy but boy, were we glad we chanced it. The bangers and mash served with sprouts were great as was everything else we sampled - especially the $3 open pastry which we shared between us - delicious! My husband bought a bottle of wine and was... More

We went there 3 times. I had the salmon salad - delicious and one of the healthiest things on the menu (there were only a few healthy things to choose from), a black bean burrito, and granola with yogurt. As a pescatarian, I appreciated that they had a few vegetarian options. Also had a nice selection of AK beers.

The Potato is now in it's new dig's directly across from the McCarthy Museum and the food is as good as ever. Plus you can now enjoy some beer or wine with your meal. Fabulous considering where McCarthy is located. Highly recommend the Chicken Fajita and the curly fries with rosemary and garlic. We'll be back to enjoy!

After your ½ mile trek from your car to McCarthy, one of the first places you come across – after the museum – is the Good Potato. And a welcome sight it is! I strongly suggest you stop here for a coffee, espresso, cold drink … or one of the menu items. They have breakfast items, lunch items and of... More

One of the very few places to eat in McCarthy & Kennicott, but absolutely delicious! We were in the area for 3 days and ate there every day! The Rosemary garlic fries were really good. The black bean wrap was delicious (even my toddler loved it). Burgers were really tasty. The salmon, roasted potato, and goat cheese salad was super... More

We had lunch here before our flightseeing trip. The burger was good, but the black bean wrap was not that great. We ordered hand-cut fries flavored with garlic and rosemary. It was disappointing because the fries were not fried to a crisp. Good thing we brought a lot of food to our cabin because I would rather cook my own... More
