Fine food severed by welcoming staff, on the terrace overlooking the stunning Loch Melfort and the Islands.

We just had drinks here after visiting the glorious gardens on a very warm sunny afternoon. The relaxing terrace was full of people enjoying the food, drinks sun and far reaching sea views. We only had drinks and ice creams but all good. Nice menu of local well thought out food, but we didn't eat here on this occasion.

I had been recommended to lunch at this hotel by a friend and was not disappointed. An afternoon meal from the bistro outside on the terrace with stunning views. A large range of quality seafood and other local produce was at an exceptional standard with friendly and very efficient service.

This review is for the Chartroom bistro. There's two restaurants. The more upmarket restaurant may be getting the better reviews. The food was unforgivably poor. Salmon and prawn starter contained these tiny frozen prawns. The crab sandwich was crab mixed with some tasteless slime on plain bread. The venison burger had been broken up in the pan, was dry and... More

We ate in he bistro twice whilst we stayed at Loch Melfort Hotel. We had two experience - the second better than he first. It is quite a busy restaurant with locals as well as hotel guests.

We had a light lunch in the bar at the hotel a month ago. Our table was dirty, the service was ridiculously slow, given how quiet the bar was, and the waiters were sullen, spending much of their time chatting to each other. I ordered a fish soup which was described as containing mussels, prawns and squid. There was the... More

We enjoyed a light snack at the bistro after visiting the Arduaine Gardens. Everything was spotless and though we thought the prices are on the high side (£6.95 for a tuna sandwich, £3.00 for a bowl of chips) it was worth it to sit outside and enjoy the spectaular views over the sea to the Isalands.

Most of the food from the Chartroom Bistro was to a very high standard and good value for money. The battered haddock could have been fresher, it sadly tasted a little dry but the salmon was very good. The portion sizes are generous and all plates are presented well enough. The dessert selection is fantastic. I had sticky toffee pudding,... More

Expensive and limited menu with average quality. No better than a cheaper hotel offering the same menu. Disappointing.

Potato leek soup, roast pork sandwich. Better than average. Service was slow, probably because they had a private party at the same time.
