I do not understand the bad reviews, all was really very good. Service, food taste, portion sizes, free desert, all perfect.

We found this place by mistake and we came here 3 days out of 7 of our holidays. We had one of the best experiences in this place, starting with the welcoming and guidance of the staff. The beach has beautiful views and all the...facilities needed for everybody , the sea is clean and warm and the food was exactly what we were looking for : fresh and delicious. We are definitely recommending this place for people who are looking to relax, to eat quality food and have to avoid crowded and touristic places. We will definitely come back!!!More

The food is ok but a bit overpriced for the quality. The staff are very nice though. It’s an okish place to have a bite if you are at dafni beach.

Much like many other reviews I have read on here, my family did not enjoy our experience at Dafni beach due to Antonis tavern! It is a tourist trap - from the moment you park there you are ushered by the parking attendant down the...steps that take you directly through the tavern. There you are met by the host who tells you this beach is owned by her family, makes you wait just at the top of the beach while she gives you an introduction to ‘her’ beach. She then directs you to the sunbeds which you are then basically forced to pay for. We tried to walk further down the beach to see what was there and she ran after us telling us which sunbeds are hers and where to go. We watched this happen to other people whilst we were there. Some members of my family visited the bar to buy some drinks. They were put off by the lack of prices on the food and so luckily they did not order any (luckily because we have seen other people being overcharged €70 for standard fish). The staff who served them were fairly unfriendly and did not seem to be bothered about providing good customer service. You would think they would want to be friendly and serve customers to increase profit, but no. Whilst reading some other reviews, we also saw people saying that them building accommodation on the beach is illegal? And that they have ruined the natural habitats of the turtles. I’ve never posted a review, but felt compelled to, especially after seeing other people’s negative reviews - it seems the owners do not care and use the same tactics year on year. We did not experience this at any other beach or restaurant during our stay and have not received such bad customer experience ever! Warning for anyone else wanting to go to Dafni beach - the other bars appear to be much nicer, so take the second turning to the beach and don’t get stuck in this trap! To the owners: this is a lovely beach and you have some nice facilities, but you totally let it down with your pushiness and bad customer service. It seems many other people have felt the same way for many years. I would advise you to take a more customer friendly approach - if you explained you are a family business and you would appreciate if people would like to stay on a sunbed then you would be more successful. Our experience felt very deceitful, and we certainly would not return to Antonis fish tavern. I hope you eventually do listen to the many other people who have left reviews like this.More

Amazing spot: clear water, beach not too crowded, the very friendly Maitre welcomes us after 20m stairs down from free parking. Kids enjoy playing, parents sun- or shadow-bathing, Everybode happy. This is followed by a late lunch with excellent fresh Dorade (EUR 40 per couple)...incl sides and table white (1ltr. at EUR 9). Perfectly relaxed staff mgd by private owner. Liked it a lot! A BIG thank you.More

Scary bike ride but once we got here the food excellent and the beach was fantastic for snorkelling. Many varieties of fish to see. Beach a bit pebbly in places. Really enjoyed the stag at this restaurant. Good fun.

Although very overpriced, 40euro for a dorada IS EXTREMELY HIGH compared to the island prices, we considered the food decent enough. Not the best meal in zakynthos but not the worst. The beach is beautiful, the sunbeds cost 2.5 euro and the beach drinks are...pretty cheap. So overall its an extremely relaxing place, we actually ended up going 3 times there in a 8 day trip. But what shocked us was the mob-like attitude of the staff of this particular beach + taverna. We wanted to go eat at another place on the beach with absolutely amazing food (search based on score, its on point) and wanted to walk from our paid sunbeds at Antonis towards this taverna, whic was 30 meters away. We were stopped by the staff, which started questioning us where are we going and why are we leaving. We said we wanted to go eat and they had the nerve to say that because we are staying at Antonis (i repeat - PAID sunbed, not free) we are not allowed to eat at another taverna. WHAT? Afterwards, after we hid from the staff and succeeded in eating where we wanted, we were once again questioned by the staff upon returning to our sunbeds as to why we are staying at antonis if we do not eat at antonis. To be honest, we have never witnessed this kind of attitude before and it was very disturbing. We felt bullied and trapped. Hint, just walk along the beach if you want to sit wherever you want.More

We stayed in the island for a week and had lunch in Antonis many times. The staff is friendly and polite and made sure we were comfortable and cozy. Food was very nice, try the "mydia saganaki", the sardenes and the local zante dish chicken...and "kri8araki".More
