My third time staying at this resort sad to say I will not return . We visited Swahili beach with friends , it was my friends birthday week so we were ready to enjoy ourselves , my goodness can I just say how shocked I...was at the poor service !!!! We arrive at the resort check in took loooong like really long , we get to our rooms and decide to meet by the beach bar , before you get a drink here it takes time like you literally have to beg the waiters to serve you a drink . We decided to go for dinner elsewhere and when we got back to the resort at around 9pm all the bars were closed , after pleading they open the bar for us since the staff were on shift they just wanted to sleep instead of attending to us and make money the only reason they are there anyway, they finally did , now the fun part since we didn’t want to keep them long we decided to head back to our rooms and have some wine when we called for a cork screw we were sadly informed that the whole Swahili beach had only one cork screw and it had fallen in the toilet 😅😅 at this point we could only laugh . This is after we waited and waited that we were informed of the above . Simply put out… hospitality does require a different kind of energy , what they are doing at Swahili beach is just unacceptable considering how beautiful the place is . Training is definitely required here .More

We spent 4 nights here and absolutely loved it! The hotel is tastefully designed with spacious rooms, multiple pools and perfectly manicured grounds. Despite being admist a pandemic the hotel didn’t take any short cuts with the quality of the food and we loved the...fact that we could eat at any one of the 4 restaurants during our stay. Each experience was unique and satiating. The staff who served us throughout were warm and friendly. The beach was small but the hotel staff have maintained it really well by cleaning out the seaweed every morning. All in all a great experience!More

Had the best room they offer, but had the worst experience. Generally, most of the members of staff are not motivated, have no customer relations, slow to sort out any issues, not coordinated ...just plain pathetic!!! ...honestly, just not worth it!!! Must explain why they...haven't won any awards since 2012/13 The place does make for good photos though ...must give them that.More

Swahili Beach is in fact Swahili Beach Resort, which have four restaurants. This listing is ambiguous as to which restaurant it refers. From the previous reviews it would suggest the Baharini, which is a beach side bar and restaurant. With the tables located on a...raised sandy area with palm tress and the like, over looking the ocean, under landscaped evening lighting it is perhaps the most romantic setting of the restaurants available at the resort. We have found the service to be consistently good, with a reasonable selection available from the menu. On this stay we again dined at the restaurant and the food was prepared and presented beautifully. What's not to like?More

I spent three days at Swahili Beach and it was just relaxing. The ambience and set up is really cool. I think the timing was also perfect as the hotel was not crowded and this gave a feeling of home away from home. The location...is also good and away from the busy city life.More

We Stayed at Swahili Beach for 7 nights and our experience to some up was like a “sweet and sour sauce”. The hotel itself is beautiful and really well designed. It looks amazing. It is probably one of the best and newer looking properties in...Diani. Pools- Beautifully designed and numerous pools. The pool water was very comfortable and warm, which we were pleasantly surprised as we have found in a few hotels with large pools the water is too cold. However, they can be quite dirty at times. The water had alot of dead insects, leaves, dirt etc floating all over. We did see it cleaned in the mornings but only once, which is obviously not enough. It needs extra cleaning in the day to pick up all the floating debris, especially after it has rained. Beach- Don’t come here if you are after the beautiful white sandy beaches and turquoise seas Diani has to offer as you will be disappointed. This is short stretch of man made beach which is very rocky and has alot of seaweed. However, 3 days into our stay we heard the owner was over and amazingly, the beach actually improved, as staff started to sweep up the horrendous seaweed frequently and rocks were being covered with sand and for a few days, the beach actually improved and looked alot better and was more enjoyable. Rooms: We stayed in a superior room. It was large and comfortable but upon entering you are greeted with a very strong smell of dampness that just lingers for the whole stay. We experienced inconsistent room service throughout our stay. We were 2adults and a child sharing. On some days we were given no towels to only 1 or 2 despite them knowing we are 3 on the room. When we asked for them, we were told they didn’t have any as they were still drying. How ridiculous! And the hotel was not even half booked. Water was also only provided on some days and it was either 1 or 2 bottles. However, this did improve when we met the cleaner and specified what exactly was missing. On 2 nights, turn down service was not done, despite us calling to request it. Again, not enough towels or water provided. Restaurant: The service at “The Majlis” where you have dinner and breakfast was very quick and efficient. Breakfast had a good selection. Buffet dinner here however was very average. The vegetarian selection and the indian food was spicy but nice, but there could be an improvement on non vegetarian selection. The food is also abit repetitive. The desserts at dinner are probably the worst we have ever had in a 5* hotel. Although they look appetizing and well presented, they are far from it. They are just terrible tasting. Dessert consisted of thin custard with lumps in it, runny panacotta, very dry cakes and hard chocolate eclairs. The hotel needs to invest in a good pastry chef. Baharini restaurant:- very very slow service here. Food just takes ages to come (45mins). Though, depending on what you order, the food is decent and some dishes are very tasty. It was my husband’s birthday during our stay and i must say the staff did willingly arrange at my request a cake and birthday song during dinner. We really appreciated that. It was well done and organised. So thank you! The staff are very polite, welcoming and friendly. However, they really lack customer service training. Service needs to be quicker, consistent and they need to perform. This all comes down to the managers. There seems to be poor management at this hotel. It also feels like customer complaints during the stay are not dealt with seriously and improvements are not made to rectify the issue or to prevent them. This is a great property and with the right competent managers who are accountable, has the potential to be one of the best in Diani. There needs to be a focus on customer service training and efficiency which seems to be lacking in every department.More

Very tasty food in this restaurant: the steak was done as requested, tasty and fresh. Sea food was available, at an acceptable price. The staff was very kind and efficient. Unfortunately the washroom was very very cold. It was maybe a malfunction of the system....It felt like entering a fridge. Not healthy, particularly for small kids.More

Experience like no other, the staff are friendly, the sea side restaurant serves great food. Having a wedding, a Conference experience the tranquility of Swahili beach. The management have an eye of cleanliness, witnessed it first hand as the housekeeping team scrub away to maintain...the sparkle and high standards of hygiene. The bathtub is a wow factor, tempted me to stay long hours in the bathtub. Traveling with kids, they will enjoy the enormous pool. Swahili, coming back with a group of friends and family. It's a great location where I enjoyed chilling at the pool and having some drinks and snacks with friends several times already. BUT recently I got shocked about their staff and/or policies. Me and my friends didn't expect a place like this being RACIST in...the year 2017!!! Me and several other white friends could use their facilities many times and eat/drink at Swahili Beach even without staying in the Resort itself. (Sometimes for a little usage fee for the pool area which is ok) BUT just yesterday they didn't let my girlfriend in at all because her skin color obviously doesn't match to their polices. Telling her she can't enter which is unacceptable and just discriminating as a group of her (white) friends just got in an hour before without any hassle. Seems white people are treated different at this place and some local Kenyans (even they been there more than 10 times) are treated like humans of 2nd class. It's not just a fact that some staff (or maybe it's even a direction of the management?) is selecting their customer by the color of their skin, it's also the fact that their behavior is rude and disrespectful! It's shameful and it hurts to have things like this happen, especially for a girl that comes to Diani several times a year for holiday and needs to experience that treatment in her own country. If this is really the management order I seriously need to think about if I will ever go there again, both the hotel and the restaurant, both with friends and my friends/colleagues/girlfriend ...More
