Great ambient, great music, great food and drinks, almost everything is homemade. The host is also great and welcoming. 3 of us ate most delicious food in Crete, it was also abundant and not expensive at all! Rakija is maybe even better than in Serbia!

We were twice here and we are both vegan. It was really great. Fresh local mixed vegetables and tomatoes filled with rice. Delicious. And very friendly staff. Highly recommendable.

We visited Vilaeti on our way to Lassithi plateau and we had an excellent traditional meal. Polite and friendly staff help you to discover traditional tastes of Crete. Highly recommend it to everyone!

This restaurant has exceptional architecture (keeping the traditional manner of building in Greek villages)which at the same time is cozy and friendly. The view from the terrace is so fulfilling and the wind is so refreshing while you eat all those Greek delicacies. Mr. George(the...owner) is so willing to assist you and has a great sense of humor while being very humble. They also have a shop with all the organic goodies made from virgin olive oil, bee’s wax and herbs. Wholeheartedly I advise you to visit this place!More

We enjoyed a really nice lunch with the kids over there trying all the starters on the menu, aubergine rolls, Cretan breads, meat balls, everything was delicious and even our 3 years’old Discovered new tastes and loved it! The restaurant looks really nice with good...looking wooden decoration, old bikes and hanging peppers, plenty of charm ! And the owners are really friendly, with us and the kids, and provide good advice.More

we stopped here for lunch after walking a local gorge. There are small villages around here that seem purely set up for tourists, and are not the authentic local villages you can find elsewhere. The restaurant had lots of plastic chilies hanging up outside so...I was hoping for something spicy, but the menu is pretty much the same as every other tourist taverna in Crete. I did manage to tick off one of the local foods I was looking for (smoked pork) but it wasn't great - the chips were very nice though. the service was rather slow but the food was decent enough. Don't make the mistake I did by going back to your youth and ordering a bottle of Retsina. It still tastes just as awful as it did when you were 18!More

The restaraunt was warm! The service was good! I was expecting something more tranditional! The problem was that there wasn't enough variety on the foods, and it was mentioned several times that the reason was that it wasn't Sunday! They do not expect to be...crowded on the other days so you eat what they have!!!! So go on a Sunday guys and you should be fineMore

We visited just for coffee/refreshment! Enjoyed the vrastari with 14- traditional Cretan tea-kinds! The red-velvet sweet was fantastic. The chocolate pie blew out mouth with rich taste and flavours! The place looks like coming from very old days of Cretan life!

We are visiting Vilaeti every time when we come to Crete - not only for the great traditional food, cute design and pleasant atmosphere, but also for the friendly and attentive service of the owners, Aliki and George. Btw. in case you have one too...many rakis to drive yourself back down from the mountain, you can also check the wonderful studios adjacent to the restaurant and sleep it off in the peace and quiet of Lassithi mountains :)More

We were in the area for a friend's wedding, and we were so happy that we got to eat at this restaurant as a result. Delicious fresh salads, wonderful potatoes and meat. For dessert (during lunchtime), we had complimentary candied grapes with yogurt. We ate...lunch and dinner there. Authentic food, and pleasant staff. Prices were very reasonable. I would definitely return if I were back in the area.More

The presentation was quite nice, the serving was good. Mixed meats grilled or rosted came on wooden dish. The quality was average. The meats were Lamp, and pork pieces in good quantities. The taste was really bellow average. All meats had extra spices like to...hide the previous cooking mistakes. Spaggheti dish was good in taste , cooked in time and fresh....no problem with it....The enviroment was good but little strange for a restaurant in a small village in mountains....I was expecting something more traditional appearing....Prices were normal....More

Definitely worth a trip. Stunning drive to get to . A traditional Cretan taverna which provides fresh seasonal food , all ingredients are locally sourced , meats from own farm and cooked slowly in their wood oven or over a spit. We had rabbit and...pork with traditional veggies and it was sublime. The whole experience a refreshing change from the 'tourist ' food served in most hotels and those masquerading as authentic tavernas surrounding hotels. This taverna provides a cool and charming ambiance in a tiny village that quotes a population of only 175. If you eat on the balcony you are treated to wonderful views of the mountain and quintessential homes and people of the village similar to those depicted on postcards. We accompanied our meal with a bottle of Kotsifali which complimented our meal perfectly. The service was without criticism, efficient, warm, interested without being over familiar or fussy, we were greeted with a complimentary refreshing fruit drink akin to watermelon or hibiscus, we started with a selection of traditional dips, olives etc, all fresh and plentiful in portion size. We would definitely return if in the area.More
