The restaurant has a stunning view of the local vineyard, very creative cuisines on menu as well. We stopped by this restaurant on our drive from Queenstown to Mt Cook. It was one of our best dining experiences in NZ.

We all enjoyed our food here, and the portions were quite large. One member of our party tried duck for the first time and was very happy with his dish. The fish of the day was great, and the suggested pairings were spot on. We...More

We visited Mt Difficulty for lunch at the beginning of September. We had the breads, the linguine and the duck. All meals were great, we asked for a break between the breads and the mains (admittedly belatedly) but were told about 5 minutes later that...More

The staff were excellent and there were a number of excellent dishes. The views were outstanding, and if it were warmer (there in winter) I'd love to have dined outside and enjoyed the fresh air. Recommend trying the wine tasting before dining and then getting...More

Lovely location with outstanding views. Food is expensive for reheated alacarte. OK for platter and a glass of wine.

This vineyard restaurant came highly recommended. We rang to book and just as well we did as on a rainy and windy day the outdoor tables could not be used and there are limited indoor tables. The view to the valley is amazing and the...More

Description
The Winery Restaurant at Mt Difficulty provides a relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy a delicious lunch. The restaurant is open daily between 12 noon and 4pm. On a fine day the outdoor terrace is the perfect spot to take in the flavours of the region while enjoying the uniquely Central Otago views. The chef produces imaginative cuisine, and the menu showcases the freshest of produce, with a choice of substantial fare or platters to share. The kitchen is open and the dining environment is casual. All main meal options come with suggested wine matches, though diners are welcome to make their own choices during a complimentary wine tasting at our Cellar Door tasting counter. Reservations are essential - demand is high year round and much of our seating is weather dependent.
