Last weekend, we had an unexpected occasion to visit this restaurant after attending an event nearby. We had literally passed El Aguacate hundreds of times while traveling between Managua and Rivas in central Nicaragua, despite hearing good reports from many previous customers. You can't miss...it, since this restaurant sits right alongside the highway and is marked with a large sign. While it may not look like much from the road, your impression quickly changes upon entering the front door. Our party was instantly impressed with their attentive service and cheerful dispositions. In our experience, those characteristics are not typical for servers at restaurants within this country. We all eventually decided on the carne asada. That turned out to be a very good choice. The food tasted very good, while the portions were unbelievably large. In fact, we took a lot of food home with us. When you couple the size of those portions with a relatively modest price tag, that results in an excellent value. We will definitely return to El Aguacate the next time we're looking for a restaurant in Diriomo or nearby Catarina.More

This place was my favorite restaurant by far when we visited Nicaragua. It is located in Diriomo and offers a variety of dishes that are well-priced. I got the Pescado sin Espinas (fish without the bones), and we also ordered shrimp cocktails and juices. The...portions were GENEROUS. We were given salad, that came with avocado and tomato, and a thick tortilla with cuajada (a delicious dry, sharp cheese). Our fishes were HUGE and came with a delicious tomato sauce. It comes with rice. Each plate of fish (whole fish that was fried) was 290 Cordobas (less than 10 bucks). The service at this establishment was great and the food was really delicious. The fish was tender and I wasn't expecting a whole fish but I'm glad I tried it. Yummy indeed!!More
