I was looking for a pleasant and nice place to have a lunch in Cholpon-Ata. I have searched some places on the internet. Eventually this place turned out to have more positive reviews among all the cafes and restaurants in the town, though it was...not the most popular. Besides, I was told personally to visit this place. In general, everything was great. The meal, first of all, was excellent. There was a wonderful atmosphere. In addition, the tables are outside, so you can enjoy the nature and the fresh air, while eating and not worrying about the heat.More

We had two dinners here while staying at the lake. It’s a small restaurant with a roofed outdoor section not in use in May because it was cold. We particularly enjoyed the shashlik: pork, lamb and chicken. Lamb cutlets with fried potato chunks are another...fave. The solyanka soup is delish! And the cabbage, cucumber and corn salad us great! A good place to eat!More

Great spot for Beer and Food. We ordered the Herring for Vodka (Herring, Pickles, Potatoes, and Onions), Pork Steak, and Beef Shashlik. All the dishes went great with "a few" beers! They do have an English menu, but the staff may not understand the translations...so it is best to have a translation app or know some Russian just in case. The prices were fantastic, if you visit try some of the BBQ it will blow your mind!More

We met friends for a drink at the Green Pub in Cholpon Ata at the end of August 2017. We meant to stay for a couple of drinks and ended up having about a dozen as the atmosphere was engaging, service was attractive and friendly...and when we needed food to help us continue, the food came out quickly and hot. Meat, beer and good times with good friends, can’t top that.More

Very welcoming place. Ate there twice and owner had no English but was attentive. Unlike other nearby restaurants, everything we wanted to order was available. Local fish and home style fries especially good.

I was told it was the only resto opened our of season so I went. Prices are expensive and not because it is good quality. Disappointed I continued walking and few metres ahead I found others like "U Rybaka" chalet, with nicer ambience and better...quality. Not recommended. No WiFi. 15% Service extra! It's far away of the European idea of PubMore

We were in the area in November on a weekday morning and were at a loss what to do for breakfast. At first we weren't sure if it was open but upon entering we were greeted by a green parlour and what felt like a...typical Central Asian decor and stools with tables. We sat down, and ordered from the English menu. The blinis were excellent. The tea was excellent. Overall a great little spot for breakfast.More

The food in Green Pub is ok (great chicken schachlik). It is One of the few restaurants with a menu in English, which is always great for non Russian speakers. Prices are decent (though more expensive than the rest of the country)

Most foreigners passing through eat at U-Ribaka, but this place was also good, but smaller. There were about 6 tables inside and maybe 8 outside on a covered porch. Menu was same as everywhere, although prices seemed better. On the evening I dined there was...only Arpa on tap, no other beers and the Arpa was flat. No internet if that's important for you and it had a 12" TV on above the bar area that nobody could see, but it still filled the restaurant with the TV program noise.More

At the time we visited Cholpon Ata this was probably the only place open for eating out (apart from some shady looking no-name establishment a few houses away). the prices were really good and for a meal for two people (including two beers) we paid...830 som (£8.30). As a vegan I didn't expect to find a lot to eat there, nor even an understanding of my preference. Yet the waitress seemed to have encountered a bizarre species called "a vegan" before as after our broken Russian confession that "nye ye myesa" she was able to suggest dishes that didn't contain it pointing out that the soup is on meat broth and that some salads contain sour cream or mayonnaise. I settled for a cabbage dish with rice and got a ginormous plate of friend cabbage and beans with chilli and soy sauce. I think for many people this would be very plain and unexciting but for a vegan who expected to only eat potatoes throughout the whole trip in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan it was delicious. No English is spoken at Green Pub, but if you have basic Russian phrasebook, you'll be able to decode the basics of the menu and f you don't have special food preferences probably most options would be tasty. It looked like a popular food destination for the locals too.More
