Most of the restaurants along the waterfront strip in Cat Ba have identical menus. What distinguishes Phoung is that their food is a definite notch above the others at similar or lower prices. Of special note is their fried spring rolls.

The food is average, I had better meals in Vietnam for sure...the staff is very kind, they speak good English wich is quite rare. For 3 main dishes we paid 275k VDN.

This place has moved over 30m to Phong Phuong hotel. Owners opens same resteraunt inside hotel, sold old location to other party which demolished original structure.

The food is reasonably priced with rice/noodles with vegetables at 30,000, and with meat at 50,000. Spring rolls are 50,000 dong. Beers are around 15,000 dong.

Definitely my favourite place on the island. We came here for breakfast and a couple of dinners and we always found good quality food, wide choice of meals and friendly staff. It's a really simple restaurant on the pavement but if you look for something authentic on a super touristy island, this is a place to go to.

Although the English menu offerings were extensive, several were not actually available from the kitchen. Our first server was inexperienced and unable to communicate effectively with us, but the second one got the job done and almost smiled once ir twice. We ordered morning glory with garlic and chicken with onions, both of which were edible if boring. The mango... More

I ordered grilled tuna with lemon and garlic, which I was really looking forward to. I was presented with some sort of white fish with what tasted like a passion fruit glaze??!! No lemon and garlic in sight, not even tuna on the plate. I called the lady over and explained this wasn't lemon or garlic. She protested and even... More

Waited for almost an hour and the only things they could server us were coke and instant noodles. We couldn't eat a thing eventually. The Chinese family arriving at the same time with us had finished their meal while we were still waiting. The waitress was the most annoying and emotionless.
