Local pub with good food. The USP is the fabulous garden. It is dog friendly and has a beautiful pond.

Lovely family experience. The staff went out of their way to accommodate requirements of two children and the food was excellent. We all had roast beef, I like mine rare and it was perfect though other tastes may have been different. Plenty of well cooked vegetables, sauces provided promptly and overall service was excellent. If weather is suitable the garden... More

Ate in the Castle Hotel bar area whilst staying at the hotel. Menu extensive with vegetarians well catered for and an additional fish menu to chose from. Food quaity was excellent though main course portion sizes were on the small side for the price we paid. Enough to fill me, but definitely not my husband, who has a big appetite.... More

We booked in on B&B terms and ate in the first night. After that we abandoned any thoughts of eating out. If you have a taste for them I recommend the Welsh Rarebit (on white for pref).

We booked for a Summer Saturday evening and it was very busy in the hotel, staff were friendly even though they looked under pressure. The food was ok I wouldn't say fantastic, I had the lamb burger which was not bad but not overly rasty, my wife had ham which again was ok but not out of the ordinary. I... More

Fabulous food, as always, and a quite different and varied menu. Good wine list with some local wines. Usually come here on last night of holiday for a special meal.

I was in a party of 10, with all different tastes and I am a plain eating vegetarian. Our meal was hosted by 2 good friends who had invited us all for a celebratory dinner. We all had a lovely evening, so much so that we came back again for our last night at Bishop’s Castle. I can recommend the... More

I was in a party of ten enjoying a class reunion. Our meals were served in good time. They arrived hot, well presented and the quality was first rate. I didn't hear one grumble and our party sampled most main choices and desserts on the menu. My Lamb Moussaka with Olive side salad was delicious (though I gave my Olives... More

If you want to eat out in Bishops Castle look no further - Shropshire has a long history of culinary excellence. Shrewsbury has a plethora of good restaurants, and Ludlow is just down the road, which for a time boasted more Michelin starred restaurants than London itself! We don‘t do Michelin at The Castle, but we certainly use many of the same local suppliers. We’re spoilt for them actually. What we aim to produce is modern, good pub food that is healthy, hearty, flavoursome and fresh. And great value of course. And you’ve a wide choice of places to eat at The Castle. Each of the three bars has its own individual character, some with open fires, some with terraces out into the garden. Or try our oak panelled restaurant, believed to feature in the Mary Webb novel “The House in Dormer Forest”. And when the weather is warm, and remember it’s always sunny in Shropshire, our beautiful south facing gardens with fantastic terrace and raised fish ponds provide the perfect spot for a light repast and a cooling beverage.
