By mistake of the staff I was served 🦀 salad instead of scampi appetiser. It looked delicious so I went with it, despite the waiter offered to bring me what I ordered. It was tasty, but it had too many small bones in, and it...was not worth 20 euros for small potion. Fish soup wife ordered was good. For the main dish we had 500 g orada. It was good but a little dry.More

Went here for a dinner on a Saturday so reservations are necessary. It is a lovely Istrian style konoba with a great fireplace inside where they actually grill. Service was quic, efficient and extremely nice, one of the best You can get. We drank local...Tomaz Malvazija which is very good and goes well with seafood. For appetizers we had a great bachalau pate, fresh tuna and scampi and octopus salad. All quite good, especially the fresh scampi which were amazing. We also shared a black risotto which was excellent. Main dish was dentex fish under the bell with potatoes which was absolutely perfect, deliciously cooked basically melting in your mouth. All together an excellent place to visit and enjoy some amazing food in home atmosphere.More

Well -regarded restaurant on the edge of Brtonigla with plenty of parking out front. The elevated main room probably has quite a good view towards the coast but we were whisked through it, and the cooking area behind, to an annexe at the back -...the last stop before the garden. No suggestion of a menu; the owner/chef simply came and sat at our table for a discussion about what he had available. After we had eliminated fish, it was just a question of which sort of meat we preferred. We were persuaded to partake of a meat and cheese starter and what came was generous to say the least - plenty of quality prosciutto, local hard and soft cheeses plus pickled cucumber and olives. There was also some lightly toasted home-made bread. No complaints, quite the reverse, but I was pretty full after all this with the main course still to come. Despite the edge being taken off somewhat, I was determined to rise to the challenge. Thus faced with a perfectly cooked and pristine slab of beefsteak which seemed to be about the size of a house brick, I set to with endeavour. Mission accomplished with some enjoyment, although the buttery greens and rough mash weren't quite so appealing. Mrs EPR also came through, womanfully polishing off two very tender slices of grilled pork. Not surprisingly, we had to decline dessert but we did accept the gratis home-made istrian firewater; my first brush with mistletoe grappa - a must try. Earlier, we each had a big, and I mean big, glass of local merlot which certainly hit the spot. Service- wise, a versatile multi lingual lady was deputed to look after us and she did a fine job. Only disappointment of the evening was that we didn't get to see the unique method of cooking on the hearth or experience the traditional main dining room That aside, the bill seemed very reasonable considering the volume and quality of output. Well worth a visit.More

From the outside you might not guess how marvellous the experience is. The place is located on a spot perfect to watch the sunset. The owner and his team make a great job of making you feel at home in the most cozy traditional guestroom...with a huge open fire. They serve fresh seafood (caught on the sam day). Service is authentic, attentive and most friendly. Prices are not low, but in more than justified in relation to quality. We spent less than 300 Euros for a most excellent dinner for 8 people...great value for money.More

We stopped here for dinner one night. The chef had reportedly worked in a big city restaurant but come home to start her own local konoba. She was amazingly friendly and open gladly showed us her hearth-style cooking. We were comfortably served on a porch...enclosed by windows. We had several courses starting with a scallop in a huge shell. Each course was accompanied with various grappas including mistletoe and walnut. The food was very good, service excellent, but most of all, the welcoming atmosphere was the most memorable part!More

Changed….to very poor expirience. Yes, covid changed a lot. Sadly in this case to worse…we tried as usual (been regular guests for years) sea food (several starters and fish as main)and stakes- florentina (for se food non-eaters). Very poor wine choice (only 2 types of...bottled wine and home wine- not bad but used to have vast choice of wine from Istria). The restaurant was for us and many of our friends a number 1 choice for sea food in Istria for years! Sadly not any more… Really not even a reflection of the quality as before….and the dissapointment with fiorentina was the thin, chewy and… Also, we noticed that several other guest were complaining over food quality but seems as the staff was not realy taking their arguments seriously…sadly, once again.More

Our Croatian friends knew of this restaurant. We were made very welcome by the patron. We were seated at an outside table. Starters were ordered, a seafood platter & Istrian ham & cheese served with fresh bread. The starters were good. Our main courses were...Orada fish, shrimp pasta & pasta tartufi. The fish was very small indeed. The pasta dishes were okay but not special. The wine was an Istrian Malvasia, which was nice. We were given complimentary grappa at the end of the meal. Overall a decent meal.More

We ate lunch here while on a Rick Steves Tour. The tables were arranged across the front room of the restaurant while most of the preparation was on an open heart fire table in next room. Bathrooms are at the back and a quick tip...do...not wait at the first door, rather go through it to see if a bathroom is available. The meal started with two pasta dishes, both with wide flat noodles. One included cubes of beef, and the other large mushrooms, both were very good. This was followed by salad, and then a main of veal and potatoes cooked on the hearth. Dessert was a strudel like dish. The grappa was a highlight as we were offered 4 types; plain, mistletoe, walnut and cherry. The walnut is a very common grappa in Slovenia and this part of Croatia.More

The waitress approched to the table, quickly listed few dishes (appetizers, soups and main dishes) and wasn’t very happy when we asked if she can repeat as we didn’t know what to order. Then we ordered prosciutto and cheese as a starter (one portion each)...- very average and expensive for what we got. Then we ordered another appetizer, pasta with trufffles and it was ok. For main dish we had fish and fiorentin steak. Fish was nothing special and the steak was good. They did not impress us and we will not come back.More
