We chanced upon the George & Dragon and what a find! A great pub and a warm welcome from both owners and locals. Food was all made & cooked to orders (not even frozen chips) and delicious. Certain to return as hard to fault. Thank you

We had a lovely stay at the George & dragon. Lovely clean fresh rooms, very good bed & full size mugs! But the best bit was the fabulous food cooked to order by the lovely hostess & the friendliness and hospitality of the owners & locals who made us very welcome - great company and conversation

We recently stumbled across this B&B on a visit to see the flying Scotsman. Situated in a beautiful location with some fantastic views of the Harringworth viaduct it was the perfect location. A very traditional village pub with a warm friendly atmosphere we were welcomed and shown to our room. The room itself was fairly big, the decoration tasteful and... More

We needed to have Sunday lunch and drove past here on the way to our B&B. Was nearly 2pm but got seated no problem and ordered the beef and the lamb roasts. Lamb was more like 2 chunky steaks, cooked medium rare. Very tasty with a side bowl of veg. Potatoes looked home made and were delicious. Dessert was sticky... More

I had a very nice pub lunch here. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is traditional but very tasteful. The beer was nicely served.

My wife and I visited the George & Dragon on Tuesday the 19th of April 2016, We received a very warm welcome by the Landlady and were taken to our room by a very pleasant young man who worked behind the bar. The room itself was excellent, very large with a kingsize bed (very comfortable)... More

We called here after an uphill walk and what a bargain. Between Tuesday to Friday the lunch menus were half price. There was a lovely blazing fire and a good choice of food.

We decided to travel until we came across a village pub that looked appealing hence us visiting this pub. We walked into a quant little bar with the fire on and instantly felt at home. The menu was a little limited but the food available is all tempting. We both chose the lamb and it was perfect bathe lamb tender... More

We live locally and dined with 2 friends. We Last visited several years ago. The menu is short but adequate. Between Tuesday and Friday all courses are half price although the base price is, in my view inflated, the final price is good value for money. The chaps had starters, both wanting whitebait but only one portion was available. The... More

We had read a glowing report in our local magazine (In and Around Oakham) about this restaurant and, having checked from their website that they are open on Thursdays from 11am, we travelled up from Northampton to have a meal out. We arrived at about 12.15 to find the car-park empty but we walked to the front door where a... More
