The food was lovely. The lady who brought our food over was great but the lady behind the bar had the communication skills of someone who is not a people person or great at communicating. A shame really because it stilted the atmosphere. I'd expect more from the staff conduct considering the cost of our visit. I guess she could... More

So let's take one of Derbyshire's excellent 'small' breweries Derby Brewing Company, find some decent locations for pubs, mix in some excellent food (I didn't try it today but the smell drove me nuts) Instead I sampled the excellent porter and snacks of peanuts and crisp. I had been on a 20 mile bike ride and was quite hot so... More

great lunch cobs & paninis. Excellent value. Good range of real ales. 1 hand pulled draught and one gas-tap cider + bottles.

We went at lunchtime, it was very quiet. Very friendly staff. I had the burger with "normal" chips. Unfortunately the burger was only ok and the chips not good, not crispy and a bit greasy. They may have been cooked in the oven. My friend had the beef stir fry. This was quite tasty.

Thanks for your positive comments on the team at The Queen’s Head. Our freshly made hand cut chips are always fried and receive great feedback so we were disappointed to hear you didn’t enjoy them but we will pass your comments onto the kitchen team. More

I'm a massive fan of the Derbyshire Brewing company Ales and thought instead of going all the way into town ill pop in and see what this place is like compared to the Tap and the Greyhound. First visit, asked for a "Hop till you drop" the lad behind the bar gave me a half a pint of head which... More

We were disappointed to read your comments on the beer as we obviously pride ourselves on serving great beers. Hop 'til you Drop is a popular beer and we can get through a few barrels in a night. It seems when you visited it was reaching the end of the barrel so we can only apologise that this was not... More

As usual the food and service was excellent! Rosie our waitress was polite, friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was lovely, we appreciated the attention to detail, ie. Candles lit on tables and friendly welcome by all staff and manager. Fish and chips our favourite. The Grimsby supplier is well worth keeping!! (And the cook of course!) Keep up the good... More

Went here in a whim as I'd heard it was good. Order taken ,so far so good. 10 mins later to be told my choice was off. Ok , disappointed but I could live with it. Starter arrived "assorted toasted breads and dips ". For £9.25 I was expecting various breads and some nice dips. Presented with a basket of... More

We would like to apologise the you were not satisfied with the dishes ordered. It is usual practise for a dish to be changed if a customer is not happy with it but unfortunately on this occasion this was not communicated by the waitress. Further training has been given to ensure that this does not happen again. We value all... More
