Went on a Saturday night with family. Surprisingly quiet given it was the weekend. Had the venison burger and chips. Quite nice but nothing to rave about. Burger bun was decidedly average. Prices on the higher side.

Visited the Black Tiles for lunch earlier this week. It is a really nice restaurant and has a good atmosphere. My husband had pork five spice with noodles which was delicious as I had a bite, wished I'd ordered it actually. I had bacon/brie panini with fries which was very tasty, the lettuce was a bit limp, but thats probably... More

Called in for lunch. Ordered fish platter to share £14.00. It contained more peppers, sun dried tomatoes and olives than fish. The shell on prawns tasted foul, they were slimy and on the turn. When I complained I asked the waitress what the chef had said about them and she replied he said 'they weren't the freshest'. When paying the... More

I've been a semi-regular customer of the Tiles for a few years. It's a lot quieter than it used to be and on my latest visit the service and quality appears to have slipped too. The 1920s building was formerly a house, then a tea room, and has been extended several times to accommodate a number of dining and seating... More

I had tokens from the local newspaper for buy one meal, get one free, so six members of our family went for an evening meal. There was a fantastic choice on the menu, we all chose a different dish and we all agreed that every meal was perfect. The staff were all friendly and helpful and the service was fast.... More

Went there this evening with family, ten of us. I had the Tiles Burger which was ok basically just a normal burger with bacon an cheese. The burger bun was so toasted it was hard as rock. My sister had the pork burger who also left the bun. These certainly were not worth the £9 + each. I did mention... More

It was my first visit to the Black Tiles Restaurant which I found by researching on the internet. I took two family members a couple of days ago, our first impression was that it seemed to be very busy which is always a good sign. There was ample car parking, we were welcomed by a very friendly and efficient member... More

Menu pretty standard for a pub, but execution poor. Had to wait far too long for delivery of a venison burger comprising a dry bun, dry, leathery patty puck and a squashed porcini mushroom. No included relishes or pickles. Dry, tasteless chips. The whole experience cried out for succulence, or at least some moisture! The side of mixed salad leaves... More
