We were stopping in Llanberis for a weekend. I found the Vaynol Arms on Facebook and messaged them about food as one of our party has gluten intolerance. They were doing a Friday Special of fish, chips and mushy peas for £6.50. The response to messenger was quick and they offered to cook a gluten free option. They also provided me with a menu and details of all gluten free options including a starter special of Thai fish cakes. We booked a table for 6.00pm and we were made to feel very welcome. We shared the fish cakes as a starter and then all 4 of us had the fish and chips which was superbly cooked. Absolutely delicious. Good table service provided and we couldn't have felt more welcome. Thank you to everyone who made our evening so special. A beautiful roaring log fire as well to make you feel cosy.

We were staying very close to this pub whilst staying in the area to tackle Snowdon so we popped in almost every night for a cheeky drink. The staff could not have been any more accommodating and even provided us with some takeaway pizzas on one evening - we were offered a table to dine in but as we had nibbles in our lodgings to use up, we opted to head back. The pizza was stunning and we definitely recommend their “Nant Peris”.
There were a great selection of beers on offer and, if you stuck to the Robinsons brands, they were very reasonably priced.
The location is also breathtaking! We loved sitting outside on the summer’s evenings and looking up at the beautiful mountains that towered over us. With the hillside’s appearance ever-changing with the slight changes in weather, we could have sat there for hours on end. Please note that there is also a park nearby for those with children; however, we did not drink enough to try this out so can’t provide a rating for this. =)

We were looking for somewhere to eat having completed Snowden and not boked anywhere for food. We arrived at about 7.30 on a rainy Friday evening hoping to get a table and they fitted us in straight away. The pub was warm and cozy and the food was good quality and the portions were really generous. The staff were very attentive and the guy serving the food (who I believe was the owner) was very chatty and friendly.

This review was for 16 Jan 2022 - sorry for the late review I posted this review for a different Vaynol arms .
Anyway her goes :
We booked a table for the Sunday roast , on arrival we were informed there was only one choice of meat for the roast “ beef”
Service was good and the decor inside was traditional to the area .
The food came out , it was excellently presented , but the taste was a let down.
The beef ( which should be hero on the plate ) was over cooked and chewy, tve roasties and gravy were nice but the vegetables were overly peppered.
Ok the cost for the roast was £10.99 and yes we should have said something but what could you do about the over cooked beef - did the chef taste the beef and why so much pepper .
Disappointing

Recently emailed the pub to make a booking for a meal and received no response so I subsequently telephoned to follow up and also to clarify if the car park could accommodate our motorhome. I received a very gruff response from the person I spoke to. I therefore decided not to book and instead spend our money elsewhere. I was advised that there had been a change of owners and maybe that has resulted in a couldn't care less attitude to customers as contact with previous owners was always a positive experience.

Not being local we were a bit worried about where to eat tonight as we wanted to feel comfortable and not be ripped off. We were not disappointed!
We came across this pub as had amazing reviews online, my partner had the ribs and I had steak and ale pie and honestly it was probably the best pie I’ve had and I’ve eaten tons of pies.
Service was really friendly and welcoming, felt right at home and even had a game of pool and a few drinks while we were there, really highly recommend for anyone looking for amazing great value food with strong size portions and welcoming staff

I made this reservation following the online link via the website. The pub had my name written in the diary and the amount of guests! Apparently my booking was not communicated! And this was my error! The blonde lady who said it wasn’t where she normally works was unhappy and had an unhelpful manner from the offset and ended the conversation with ‘I'm not going to stand here and argue the toss with you’ this isn’t the way you speak to someone. When we decided to go to another pub as we had been given 1 hour to look at the menu and eat before being kicked off the table the young dark hair girl clapped! And said she’s coming extremely childish. I can only imagine the blonde lady sets the tone for the other staff with her people skills that require work! Such a shame as this pub was recommended by the place we were staying! Although I’m glad we didn’t stay as the atmosphere wasn’t the best and the pub we went to was fantastic wonderful staff food and locals!

Arguably the least welcoming pub in the UK.
Myself and a group of friends stopped by for food and drinks after a day on Snowdon. As with most village pubs in the UK I have always been made to feel welcome.
Complete opposite at this place. Staff were rude and made us feel completely unwelcome (maybe because we were English). Food choice was limited but was ok. The Moretti they serve was absolutely not Moretti either.

On hearing the pub was under new ownership and that the food was great, we wanted to try for ourselves and we were not disappointed. We phoned ahead to book a table and received a friendly welcome from Alison on our arrival. A table had been received for us close to the open fire which was great. The food was amazing and absolutely delicious. We had soup for a starter and it was homemade and very nice. I had the steak and ale pie and my husband had scampi and chips. Very generous portions, really hot and delicious.
We thoroughly recommend a visit here and we will be back soon.

We always enjoy our meals at this pub, There’s plenty of choice and the portions are great! Unfortunately the steaks are never cooked properly! Having huge mouthwatering steaks on the menu is great but never comes out as requested. If a 32oz steak or a 16oz ribeye is completely raw in the middle instead of medium rare or medium then place the steaks in the oven for 10 - 15 minutes, The chef doesn’t seem to understand the thickness of the meat! We enjoy the menu but would enjoy it even more if the steaks were cooked right! Definitely give this place a go as it’s a cosy friendly pub and reasonably priced!

We had dinner here twice last weekend while my husband and I were in the area. I would strongly reccomend it .The menu is varied if not extensive (although it caters for Vegans) but the food is delicious, the staff are very friendly and the pup has a lovely feel to it.

We were looking for a pub in Llanberis and came across the Vaynol Arms. We arrived just as they were opening but were welcomed in by the newish landlords Lee and Pauline. The food was fantastic pub grub with huge portions but it was the people that made it, the locals were so friendly we spent all evening chatting to them and Lee & Pauline. Will definitely go back.

Went for Sunday Lunch today WOW Amazing. Never had food like it, Portions were massive . Everything was home made. Had 2 thick slices of beef and 2 thick slices and turkey ( my choice ) and husband had the turkey. Again 4 thick big slices with a big portion of stuffing . Carrots cabbage broccoli and cauli cooked to perfection as was the creamy buttery mashed potatoes and the 5 ! roast potatoes and the Yorkshire Pudding ? Never have I seen one so big and risen like a small loaf. Beautiful gravy . All staff were bi lingual and so polite efficient and very friendly. All this was only £11.50. A gem and we have already booked for my husbands birthday next month. By far the best Sunday lunch we have ever had in all the eating places we have visited. Please book and you will definitely not be disappointed. Fantastic and top marks to you all, See you very soon

After spending a few days in Snowdonia area, looking for local pub, to no avail, we came across this lovely pub. It was perfect, staff were friendly, local beers on tap and decent wine list. The menu was extensive, we had lasagne, which was definitely homemade and was one of the best we have ever had. A pleasant change from usual pub grub. I hope the current chef continues to produce such delicious food for many years to come. Would definitely return if in the area.

This is a great pub in Nant Peris - traditional, with open fires , and a good mountaineering tradition. What lets it down is the beer and the food the food is reallyreally average 50's English and really not very nice. Beer is just about ok. I live locally and am a climber and always passed the Vaynol thinking I really must try it out. Well I did after a climb with a friend at the tail end of winter and was disappointed. Would I go there again, yes for the atmosphere but not for the food and beer. Best to have a double whisky and move on. A pity as its a classic pub in a classic location.
