The Swedes restaurant never fail to disappoint and have not done so over the past 3 years on my visits to Puerto Vallarta
Tonight we did not have a reservation but managed to be seated straightaway.
We had 2 great cocktails ordered starters and mains and then tried some delicious homemade ice cream
The summer rolls are delicious and fresh and the lobster bisque was very nice and full of flavour
For main course I had the mushroom risotto which was both delicious and well portioned and my partner had the cobb salad which had a which had a delicious dressing and was a very good portion size.
The pineapple and basil sorbet, homemade was very refreshing.
The service was thoroughly at yes native and friendly and all at a very reasonable price
We will definitely be back again - thank you!

If you need a break from all the great local Mexican cuisine, Swedes is the place.
Three of us went to dinner at the prime dinner time. Although quoted a 30 minute wait time and with room at the bar we settled in for one before dinner. We barely got our order for drinks in and we were surprised with a offer of a table by a window. We were happily surprised and pleased. A friend and I split the tomato basil and mozzarella salad. The tomatoes were a heirloom variety plump and juicy, and the mozzarella fresh. Another friend had the house salad. For entrees we three were all over the map. I ordered the pork chop very good overall. It was big, thick, and not too fatty. Although towards the bone it seemed a little too underdone. Another friend ordered the salmon. He really liked it and commented that, “it was cooked to the right doneness.” My other friend ordered the hamburger, something he never usually does. He wolfed that burger down. He really liked it.
There is a full bar upstairs.
The service is good here: prompt and efficient.
Previously I’ve eaten at this establishment as part of a group of fourteen or sixteen for dinner. The staff handled that situation well too.
Don’t forget to ride the short funicular in front of the restaurant - the restaurant sits midway along the tracks (you can’t get off or on immediately in front of the entrance).

Booking definitely advised for this one as it gets very busy and you might find yourself waiting a long time on the steps. We ate on the ground floor area and also on the top terrace, the latter of which was the nicer atmosphere.
Excellent selection of dishes and good quality food all reasonably priced with attentive staff.
Only negative point is the speed at which the Waiters operate, it is a very busy restaurant with high table turnover, great for a quick dinner but not for a long leisurely one. We would definitely return but with this caveat.

We were happy with our food.
At the end of the meal we wanted cappuccinos and we were abruptly told that the bar was too busy making cocktails to make us cappuccinos!!
Really?? We weren’t given a choice of waiting a few minutes for our drinks. When we brought this to the attention of the manager Carlos he listened but did not do anything for us. Very disappointing ending to what should have been a lovely experience.

We took in the Kim Kuzma show at The Palm Cabaret and were told there was a special promotion in place with The Swedes. Book your show ticket and you are given a voucher. Have dinner at the Swedes before the show and not only get 15% off your meal but 10% off your show ticket. Bargain. The Swedes is a top quality restaurant offering a wide range of menu selections all prepared excellently. The chicken and pork were our choices and fully enjoyed. Service is superb and friendly. Meals arrived quickly and hot. Once your appetite is sated you walk across the street to enjoy the show. Doesn't get much better.

We have been visiting PV since 2017, and have made it to The Swedes every time. It's perched up the hill where Olas Altas meets Pulpito, and offers views of the Zona Romantica, and Los Muertos beach beyond. The menu is always creative and delicious. This time we enjoyed the Restaurant Week mahi mahi and zucchini risotto, with a beautiful green salad with goat cheese, mango spring rolls, passion fruit pie and chocolate mousse. The cocktails are delicious and reasonably priced, as is the wine list. This place feels special without being pretentious, and always offers us a great meal in a setting that can't be beat.

We have spent much time in PV and have tried most of the restaurants. Swedes was, by far, the worst ‘quality and service for price’ we have experienced. Not the worst food in PV and not the worst service, but both deplorable based on the cost and what they claim to offer. First order came slow and was completely wrong (ordered fish, got pork). Do-over took longer and tasted like fish out of a can. PV has multiple quality dining options. Swedes is not one of them. Avoid it.

We enjoyed a light but meal at this restaurant which was very good. We started with gazpacho which we both thoroughly enjoyed. We followed up with chicken Caesar salad and a Cobb salad. Both salads were well made and tasty. Portions were large.
Other food we observed including the nightly special pork chop looked amazing.

We had to go back a second time! Great atmosphere and service in a central location. It’s very popular so reservations are recommended. The chunks of beef tenderloin with pasta and Gorgonzola sauce is amazing. The salmon dish is also pretty special.

The food was spectacular and the service great until I was the last guest left. This was at 10:30 and they publish to be open until 11pm. The hairy eyeballs were directed my way by most staff members 30 minutes before closing time, unsubtly telling me non verbally to leave! Is it because I was a solo diner? I paid 4,500 pesos to be hounded out! The food is great but don't go too late or suddenly you'll find yourself uneelcome

I came here recently because of its close proximity to my condo and for something different from the Mexican fare. I had never been to a restaurant that specialized in Northern European food before. I will say I didn’t really get that vibe from the restaurant or the cuisine, but it was really good. There was huge photos of vintage American actresses on the walls. The salads were excellent. I had chicken with pesto pasta. It was different from how it usually comes in the USA, a little bit more dry of a sauce and not too salty, but still very nice. If I were them I would edit the description of the restaurant so it doesn’t sound like a Northern European place; or change the decor and music to try to make it make more sense with the theme.

A former student recommended Swedes to us when he heard we were in Puerto Vallerta. It is one of the best recommendations I've received. My husband and I ate there three times in a week, and each time we were greeted by friendly (and very handsome) young staff. The Cobb salad and the Caesar salad were wonderful, and came with the most tender foccacia and olive oil for dipping. I make foccacia at home, but I can't replicate the delicate and tender texture of theirs. This evening we shared a fetticuni with tenderloin and an order of summer rolls (shrimp filled little delights). We sat in the lower seating area because it seemed quieter for dinner. The first time we went I had a mojito, and watched the mint being crushed and the lime juice squeezed. It was fresh with just the right amount of sweet. I recommend saving room for dessert. Both the carrot cake and the chocolate cake were house made and "muy rico."

I’ve fallen in love with this restaurant - especially for the continental European cuisine (salmon, pork tenderloin, etc). Desserts are a lovely addition and the bar staff does a great job. Wander up to the top floor and ask for a table or patio spot.

Amazing as ALWAYS.
We made reservations and seated upon our arrival. We told the server we were kinda in a rush hour 15 for dinner. Our server was incredible and helped us along.
Caesar salad was perfect and crisp.
Chicken deluxe as amazing as always and smack on!
The fish feature was perfectly prepared and extremely tasty.
The host manager even came over to check on us as to why we were leaving so quickly and we explained-nice added touch!
Try the Peanut Butter martini-OMG TO DIE FOR!
Swedes never disappoints!

From the moment we were offered seating on the upper terrace to our departure, our experience was flawless. The setting is romantic yet with a touch of lively in the decor and music. Angel is an attentive and gracious server. Our cosmo and martini were perfectly prepared and icy-topped…that takes quick delivery in the warmth of a PV evening! The lobster bisque and gazpacho were perfect. The stuffed chicken with risotto and the daily special of mahi-mahi were two dishes not to miss! Leave room for dessert and give yourself permission to indulge in the carrot cake tower- it’s not your church basement ladies’ cake nor is it as daunting as the photo seems! The raisin and rum ice cream that accompanies it will leave you wondering why you didn’t start with dessert!
