We popped to the Bell at Purleigh last Sunday to see a friend's art exhibition and had some lunch first. There were a lot of sporting fixtures that day including Formula One and Wimbledon final so it was not quite as full as it could have been, which was very pleasant. I plumped for the roast beef my partner had... More

My father lives locally and this is his 'local' so I have eaten here many times when visiting him but never taken the time to give a review and I thought it's about time I did! We had lunch last week, he had a substantial lunch and I had a light lunch, as always it was delicious, and very good... More

We stopped at the bell for lunch whilst walking with the kids. Two roast beefs, a roast lamb and sausages and chips! Everyone enjoyed lunch, the local bitter was exceptional. My wife, who cooks a mean roast, said it was the best roast she has ever had away from home. I think it was good, but obviously not as good... More
