(Richard Hawley) (Richard Hawley) The Oakhouse Bar Café - Maldon I mentioned to my wife, on our recent visit to Le Bouchon, that we really don't visit Maldon as often as we should. It's a charming town and only ten miles from home, yet we tend to visit Chelmsford by default. However, I had a need to visit Maldon, so... More

Revisited this location, ideally situated in the high Street of the town. Spacious location that has a good range of food, coffees and cakes. Staff are friendly and attentive in making your visit a success. Prices are reasonable, with car parking around 100 yards away.

Really nice position in high street can sit out and watch the world go by. Food very nice but felt menu quite limited but what was served was very nice. Staff friendly and helpful can just go for drinks which is also nice if meeting friends

Took a chance and popped in for lunch. Lovely oldy worldy interior with a modern twist. Highly recommend the burger with monterrey jack cheese..a proper burger meal. The ham egg and chips was fantastic too. Good portions and well presented. Friendly welcome and service.

As a local person I love OAK House Bar& Cafe which has absolute homely atmosphere . I am fond of sitting by the fire place on the leather sofa sipping my red wine or tea with my friends. I also love sitting outside having sunshine with my delicious cappuccino and chatting with locals. Very good and professional service always.

Visited today for a brunch. Reserved outside table, as took our cockerpoo aswell. Started with latte and flat white. Great coffee! Lunch was delicious. Hot and really tasty. Chicken bacon and Brie salad and Mackerel risotto- wow. Yummy beyond belief. Ample portion size. Followed by Oakhouse Signature brownie with vanilla ice cream (back on menu) and honey glazed carrot cake.... More

I can't say enough good things about the staff, food and venue at the OAKhouse. Carrie who helped me organise the celebrations from start to finish was absolutely brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble for her. She amended our pre-order menu to cater for us and she responded promptly to all my communication via email. On the night she and... More

Visited Maldon with 5 friends, one of whom is "local" and they suggested a late lunch at the Oakhouse. While we ordered some drinks, they cleared and set a table upstairs for the six of us. We didn't choose anything adventurous, in fact 5 brunches and the Haddock and chips. All the meals were excellent judging by the empty plates... More

We chose the beef roast dinner off the set menu, it was overall pleasant but a questionable choice of vegetables- courgette and baby sweetcorn with a roast?? The potatoes and parsnips seemed to be cooked quickly and parts were bordering on raw, however the slices of beef made up for it, and all nice flavours. The door kept blowing open... More

Popped in for a family lunch. Great menu, happy and friendly service and the food was gorgeous. Good value for money and a nice alternative option to other local venues. We often eat at the venue and occasionally go there drinking in the evening, we live the atmosphere and alternative options available.
