About
This small room, which began as a coffeehouse and almost immediately segued into a full-fledged restaurant, quickly became a popular spot in Grosse Pointe. The room has an appealing energy and intimacy - with 38 seats around tables nestled close together. The well-prepared menu is the right length for a bite-size restaurant that includes eight appetizers, a half-dozen pasta dishes and five main plates, including notable favorite, tournedos di vitello, medallions of veal filet in a fresh mushroom sauce. Cafe Nini is named for Alicia (Nini) Barbieri, the third generation of the Da Edoardo restaurant family.

My husband and I went for dinner on a Monday night. This is a small, intimate little restaurant with a lovely ambience. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant for a quiet, peaceful meal.

Small place inside. 9 tables and about 8 bar stools in here, it’s quite cozy and cramped in here. Started off with escargot, sautéed mushrooms, lasagna alla Bolognese, chicken Marsala, eggplant Parmesan and sautéed lake Perch. $154+ Service was okay. The bread was good. The escargot comes with sautéed mushrooms. Minestrone and the side salads were okay. The sautéed mushroom was f The perch was lighted breaded, wasn’t expecting that, since it was sautéed. It was okay. The lasagne was good, different, smaller. The chicken Marsala was good for my step-dad. My mother’s eggplant was good, nice light breading.

We went here for dinner on May 31 and was very very good. My husband had the Tournados Di Vitelli and I had the whitefishcon bianco y limone . Both dishes were spectacular! Our friends has the whitefish also and a salad for dinner. Again just as great as ours. The setting is adorable and small and cozy. I would not miss this meal!

Huge fan, small place, get there early. The dinner for two including a bottle of wine for $49.95 will keep us coming back. The bread is hot out of the oven, the sauces that were made for the Mussels, the escargot were perfect. The chicken piccata, the chicken Marsala were very good. The buzz kill was waiting for our check for over 20 minutes. We will be back, we just have to tell them we are ready to leave, please return in a timely manner with our credit card. The food, you will not be disappointed!!

We went there after a production at the Grosse Pointe Theatre - great dinner. The food is really good. The tables are kind of small and it can be tough to get reservations, but it’s well worth the effort. Good selection of wines to match the tasty Italian food. We had the lasagna...very good.

Café Nini has been around for many years now, and we've been going there very few months forever. Their lasagna is fabulous, and their other pasta dishes are always well prepared and large portions. The bread is great - definitely house-made; and the eggplant appetizer is always fresh and tasty.

Went with our friends for the 1st time. Reservations are almost a must, due to a few tables and a small interior, big on great food, good service, and a interesting menu. Has become one of our favorite places. The chicken parmigiana is tender, flavorful, and delicious!! My husband had the perch with a special sauce. Salad and breads are not run of the mill. Very reasonable prices.

We were there with a fairly large party. The food and wine were very good. This is not a cheap restaurant but worth the price.

Lovely little restaurant offer intimate dining space for Italian fare. We called ahead to reserve the window table that seats 6. During the week, they have a special menu for dinner for 2 at $45.00. Our party of 6 sampled the fish, pasta, and veal meals, all superb.

My ravioli was not cooked enough and was rubbery. My wife’s shrimp dinner was definitely lacking in flavor. Not worth the price, sorry.

Yes I came back, the third time, and enjoyed the dining experience quite well. Service is attentive and very good. Food is good, a real bargain at $49. for two entrees and a bottle of very good wine. Will be back.

Hidden away on a posh street in downtown Grosse Pointe Farms this is a small, intimate place to dine on Italian food. The sauces are soooo delicious! Best to try it during the weeknight to avoid feeling elbow to elbow in this tight dining room.
