We found this restaurant quite by accident. It is a few hundred yards outside the main area of the village, opposite Esparithes Hotel and owned by the same people. The standard is very high with quite a few nice touches such as patio heaters when...it is a chilly evening. the food was good, the tuna salad is made with fresh tuna instead of tinned. Prices are reasonable and the house wine is very drinkable.More

Staying in Koutoulafari passed her e a few times...checked out the menu looked nice. Inspiring dishes. So decided to visit. Almost nothing on the menu for vegetarians but waiter seemed happy to ask for a pasta dish to be made without the meat element....sadly went...downhill from here. Asked for a bottle of rose told didnt have any....10 mins later served the table behind with the "no rose"! Ordered Stifado....basic very basic chunks of meat and a very thin sauce ...meat was overcooked and the whole dish was dry. Daughters vegetarian pasta failed to appear and had to ask where it was....had obviously forgotten and had to wait 20 mins for it whilst everyone else had finished their meals. Other daughter had pasta with pork belly....saw no meat just fat. Asked for desert menu told what was available ordered 3 chocolate souffle then told sorry dont have them. Did get the bill and left....went round to the sports bar to get better service and dessertsMore

On the last day of our holiday, we treated ourselves to a meal in the Monastery. Every afternoon, from our flat in the Esperides resort that owns the Monastery, we noticed the fire being lit at the entrance for the Antichristo lamb and staff rushing...in and out from the morning. We were not disappointed. Whereas Koutouloufari has plenty of restaurants to choose from, this one is a class apart. The tables are spaced out, the staff are very attentive, and the chef clearly knows what he's doing. The lamb was gorgeous. So was the chocolate souffle dessert, which I will remember for a long time. Large portions, very dedicated staff, and a classy setting. The feral cats are indeed a nuisance, but not the restaurant's fault. The restaurant has cushions for smaller children. The bill was very reasonable.More

Food and service is lovely here. It’s an outdoor restaurant on a pretty terrace, patio heaters keep you warmed when the evening gets chilly. You can have a simple meal and local wine very cheaply or you can splurge on champagnes fillet steaks and cocktails,...whatever you choose you are served very well. BUT do not go if you hate cats because here they are very cheeky, will jump onto your table! Very persistent and can spoil your experience.More

We visited the monastery for the first time after been attracted by seeing the lamb AntiKristo cooking from mid afternoon. We definitely weren’t disappointed. I had the antikristo and my husband had the pork tenderloin both of which were excellent. The prices are slightly higher...than other places in the village but the quality of food, service and environment more than makes it worth whileMore

This is a new taverna in the village, occupying what was a run down building at the top of 'Cardiac Hill'. Having never eaten here before, myself and my wife thought we would give it a go. First impressions were very good, the owners, (Esperides...over the road), have done a really top notch job in renovating the place. The outside dining area is a really pleasant place to sit and eat; there is no inside dining area. For our first meal I had the Lamb Antikristo and my wife had a pasta dish, both of which were excellent. The lamb was beautifully cooked over the fire, all that was left when I finished was a plate full of bones; my wife really enjoyed her pasta dish and finished that with gusto. We were also given a treasure chest of bread to start, and a free dessert to finish. All in all, a very pleasant first visit. We went back later in the holiday, but came away very disappointed. The limitations of the outside only eating area were exposed by the high winds, there really is zero protection from the elements. The food was also underwhelming. I had the meatballs, which were quite bland and not very warm. They were perfectly edible, but could have been tastier and hotter; the chips/potato scallops accompanying the meatballs were tastier and hotter. I can't recall what my wife ate, but she was similarly disappointed. This time, we didn't receive the treasure chest of different breads, but did still get the dessert. It was such a shame as the first visit was really good. On both visits, the service was very good, that cannot be faulted. Friendly, chatty, pleasant waiters who did their job very well; no complaints at all about the standard of service. It's such a shame that after the initial 'wow' of the first visit, the second visit really let it down. If our first visit had been to the standard of our second visit, there would have been no second time. With more consistent levels of food preparation, this could be a very good taverna, as it is it's just average. It is also a few Euros more expensive than most of the other tavernas in the village.More
