This restaurant was the reason we chose Vejer for a weekend away after hearing and reading good reviews. The decor beautifully echoes the Morrocan influence in the food and the inside dining area (Pergola) felt intimate and warm even with the wind and rain whipping about on the other side of the glass wall. Perhaps our expectations were too high... More

El Jardin is the restaurant of the Califa Hotel. Both are highly recommended. The restaurant offers a good choice of dishes with a distinctly Morrocan influence and this reviewer and partner found the food here to be absolutely delicious.

Lunch at this restaurant was a highlight of our week in Vejer, a small white village in Andalusia. The menu is Mediterranean and/or north African. My lamb tagine was delicious. Service was unhurried, but efficient, and the cost was in line with the surroundings and reputation of the restaurant.

Excellent menu of authentic Lebanese and Morrocan dishes. Marianaded olives, Aleppo salad (with caramelised aubergine ), mezes, and Arabian pastries. All served in an atmospheric garden hidden behind and below a hotel on the central square. Lots of steps down - would be a challenge for disabled, but the the whole amazing town of Vejer may not be the best... More

After our starter and presented us with the dessert/desert menus - talk about a low calorie main course. She soon realised her mistake and brought a wonderful B’stilla This very special pie represents the pinnacle of exquisite Fassi (from Fez) cuisine. Layers of a paper-thin pastry coddle a blend of pigeon meat, almonds and eggs spiced with saffron, cinnamon and... More

This courtyard garden is stunning. We ate in the adjoining glass fronted terrace room. The ambiance is perfect, the service faultless, quick, friendly and efficient. Food was fabulous. Advice from the waiting staff was on the money. And great value for money.

They managed to seat us without a reservation but I recommend reserving ahead if you want to eat the same night. Food was a nice mediterranean moroccan mix, great service!

We had a three course meal that was very enjoyable. Manzanilla sherry with first course, little filo pastries filled with goats cheese. Half bottle of excellent local red wine with two different tagines were all delicious. We shared three baclava for pud. Complimentary drinkto finish was also well received. Beautiful setting either in the atmospheric ouside terrace or the stylish... More

Vejer's most popular restaurant has stone vaulted dining rooms and a lush palm-filled courtyard set in an emblematic 16th century building. 'The Caliph's Garden' is one of Andalucia's prime eating destinations. You will be served fabulous North African & Middle Eastern food in a historic, tranquil & unsurpassed setting in the heart of Vejer's medieval quarter. Overlooking the palm filled square of the medieval quarter the Jardín del Califa is inspired by the Moorish rule of Vejer over 700 years ago. The Jardin del Califa is set in one of Vejer's most important historic buildings. The principal building dates from 1527 (and includes parts from the 11th Century) and is now a grade 1 listed monument. The stone clad dining rooms and the palm filled courtyard are the perfect company for your meal with us. Come to the Califa and you will enjoy tasty dishes, stone vaulted cellars, an enchanted garden, a splashing fountain and scented plants. The haven of this quiet corner in the heart of Vejer will provide you with many memorable moments.
