... we had a great evening with more than delicious food- the service was great and the 16 courses all special. We didn't like the pork though. The "but" is around the costs - we had the wine accompanied menu - and it was a total around 2200 ZAR which is quite expensive for South Africa- I am happy being... More

As a food lover, eater, traveller and diner, I have come to absolutely hate tasting menus. I am tired of Chefs trying to tell me how well they can cook. Just get on with it and make some great dishes, but stop giving me a taste and then never offering me a full dish! I vowed that I would never... More

No problem booking online but you have to be organized Food fantastic start to finish. One or two starters in dark room a bit superfluous. Light room was superb. A fantastic restaurant

service and presentation is outstanding. You may find that not all pieaces of meal incredible, but some are really sublime, If you like unique fine dining, this is it. Be aware it is pricy.

This experience - going to TTK is not going to a restaurant, it's a full blast experience ! - is simply fabulously great! I can only use superlatives ... and this means quite something as we go to top rated and exclusive restaurants all around the world. The experience, the setting, the location, the food, the service: wow, wow, wow!... More

I have had the privilege of visiting the Test Kitchen over a number of years, just been back post re-boot & have been blown off my feet. The 2 stage experience is interesting & beautifully executed. Perfectly balanced cocktails on offer to accompany a variety of local ‘bar snacks’. After being ushered through the porthole from Dark to Light, we... More

There is a 9, yes nine months, waiting list for this restaurant; so if you want to go; book well before you leave the UK. We managed through our hotel concierge to get a cancellation; we were lucky. When you arrive, you arrive in the "dark room". Now I don't know about you, but when I go into eat food... More

The "new" Test Kitchen involves two rooms, first, on arrival, a "dark" room where one can choose two cocktails and is served some small snacks. An interesting concept, but one drink might be more appropriate along with an ability to control the time spent on one's pre-dinner drinks. Diners then move into the "light" room for the main dining. Dinner... More

I have been fortunate enough to dine at many amazing restaurants all over the world and this may have been my best experience to date. The tasting menu was interesting and keeps you captivated throughout the entire evening. The wine pairings were very well paired and interesting. I am typically not a cocktail drinker, but the cocktails that were paired... More

Well worth the effort of securing a booking. We thoroughly enjoyed the adventure of starting in the dark room where everything felt intense and then progressing to the light room where dishes are more complex. Watching the chefs as they work in the open kitchen is enthralling. We were worried that the amount of courses would be too much but... More
