Today was the third time we have eaten Upstairs at Bailey's and the quality of the food continues to impress. The lunch menu is imaginative and such good value for money with perfectly sized portions and reasonably priced wine. The owner Xavier is very charming and welcoming and the overall experience cannot be faulted

We had dinner here one Friday evening -- our choice was based on Trip Adviser. We had truly wonderful meal. The first course was a 'soup' hidden in a tomato that is to be eaten with a knife & fork! the main courses I has was monkfish. the wine as recommended to us was a white spanish wine which was... What can I say? Have visited baileys quite a few times over the years and though not a frequent visitor (we live in Surrey) we are always remembered and warmly welcomed. The simple, but exquisite, lunch menu is never the same. Javier, the proprietor, is very charming and knows the wines and menu inside out. Loved my aubergine tempura today.... More

Came here as a family group of four. This is exactly the kind of restaurant I like. Small, independently owned and managed, "patron" on site and active. Varied and unusual menu, interesting and unusual wine list. A bit quirky. As the cliche goes - "what's not to like"? Well, alas the service is a bit haphazard. Menus delivered and ten... More

Both upstairs and downstairs offer fabulous, fresh and inventive twists on continental classics. Xavier and Linda are both so welcoming and knowledgable about their produce and menu. Whether its just a coffee and sandwich downstairs, or a more elaborate upstairs feast- Baileys is a Beccles institution. There is no excuse for not visiting if you live locally and definitely worth... More

The host, Xavier, makes everyone feel relaxed and welcome and is a truly charming gentleman. The wine list is beautifully chosen and the food is a delight. The highlight for me was a starter of home-made black pudding with scallops. It was divine. My only criticism is that the young serving staff were not experienced enough but I'm sure that... More

Fantastic place. Brilliant deli, fan owners, helpful staff. This is a top notch establishment with a mid to high class restaurant upstairs where you need to book. Lunchtime menu is cv reasonable, dinner menu is limited in choice but the good is fabulous. The owner is always present, super friendly and just a brilliant restauranteur. Up and coming chefs train... More

best food we've had in suffolk - absolutely delicious - we're still talking about it - beetroot gazpacho, artichoke ravioli with walnuts yummy yum, lovely place and delightful friendly staff. But... we were three adults & three children and even though there was hardly anyone else eating we had to wait and wait and wait, we ended up waiting so... More

We came 16 adults plus kids (8 ages 2-15) for a meal the night before a wedding. We booked for 8.30pm arrived in drips and drabs up until 9.30pm and were still served a simply outstanding feast with excellent service and humour. The 4 courses (plus amuse bouche & petit fours) was plate licking good PLUS the kids got huge... More
