Definitely 5/5 with couple of toddlers! Theres a little sandbox in the backyard, how genius is that! The food was delicious as well, we had lovely toasts, salads and some sweets. The building had really nice vibes from century ago, and the garden was peaceful...and chill. You should visit!More

Really cozy cafe where you enjoyed yourself. The cafe is often pretty full, and no wonder, as time flies there like wings. Excellent cakes and pastries as well as good coffee and other drinks.

The Kaffestugan Svarta Katten is a small charming cafe. I liked the mixed decor with old-fashioned furniture. I got a salmon toast and coffee; the toast was perhaps little bit over toasted but all in all it was good sized and tasty (light lunch) The...staff was friendly.More

Had a lovely breakfast in this Café. Sandwich with shrimps and traditional Åland’s pancake with apple jam. Sooo delicious. Free refill for coffee! Lovely old-fashioned decor and good service

I absolutely love this little cafe in a traditional Mariehamn wooden house. The food is so good--simple, fresh, and tasty. Portion sizes are perfect, not too small and not too large. The staff are super friendly and always ready to help with the menu. The...Åland pancake is pretty good and their cinnamon rolls are to die for! Whenever I'm on Mariehamn I find myself in this cafe at least once a day, even if it's just to pick up another delicious cinnamon roll for later. It's easy to walk right past this little cafe and not realize what you're missing inside, so keep an eye out for the Black Cat and give this cafe a try.More

We arrived to Åland a little before two in the afternoon and looked for a place still serving lunch. Svarta Katten sounded like good option, and it was great. We both ordered baked potatoes, but with different filling. Both were very tasty. The atmosphere is...laid back and the staff are friendly and seemed genuenly happy to be there. I will try to return in the future.More

Try the pancake. The menu is like you'd visit your grandma, but with vegan options. The building and outdoor spaces are cute, easy to visit with kids.

This cafe is located quite near the city center (less than 5 minutes walk). Great place for lunch. I had toast with chicken filling and salad. It had two slices of bread with lots of filling! Super tasty. The price was quite normal for this...island: 9,50€. Lots of gluten-free options, this one was gluten-free as well. The building doesn’t look very fancy outside, but the furnishings inside are beautiful. :) You can also sit outside if you like.More

Located in a cute, old house, Svarta Katten always provides good food, friendly service in a lovely atmosphere. They have a permanent menu and weekly menu, as well as cakes and buns, so it's nice to visit any time of the day. During the Summer,...they also have tabled out in the garden to enjoy one of the few sunny days in Nordics.More

A bit off, but still not too far away from Mariehamn's center is this café with the in Scandinavia popular name for restaurants and cafés: 'Black Cat'. The building looks very modest, but it has quite a few tables and chairs for sitting outside. One...orders and pays at the counter, where there is a display behind glass of the confectionery on offer. This time I went for an Apple Tart with Vanilla Ice Cream added to it. For coffee one can help oneself, which comes free with the order, again something typical for Scandinavia, which we don't know in central Europe. Despite the nice weather I didn't sit at one of the tables outside, but chose the room next to the counter because of its original atmosphere in a mixture of casualness and nostalgia. Too bad the apple tart turned out to be with almost no apples, so in this respect I was quite disappointed.More
