We had a really nice meal at the travellers rest about a year ago and so we thought we would go there again for dinner. Unfortunately the standard of food and service have since dropped to the point where we left feeling really disappointed with the experience. We could have had a much nicer dinner in many of the other... More

Staying at Lady Heys so this place is walking distance. Walked there with my Dad and his dog so went in the so called beer garden which is a gravelled area at the back of the pub. It was lunch time so didn't want a big meal and opted for the smaller portion fish and chips which was on the... More

Let me start by saying we have visited the travellers rest 20+ times in the last few years and today's experience completely changed our view on the place. The problems started when we ordered our starters, there were only four on the menu and my wife asked for the pâté and was told they had none very abruptly. Myself and... More

Came here with the hubby and friends during a visit to the area, the pub looked decent on the outside and a small beer garden to the back, could have done with a little weeding but it was nice enough. On entering the pub looks like it had recently been refurbished and had been tastefully done. We had a drink... More

This is a pub that has had its ups and downs, and at present it is on a down. We believe it is up for sale - and it shows. There are still good things; the staff are excellent, and the food was very good (although £1 for a piece of sliced bread toasted and flavoured and called "garlic bread"... More

Whilst out for a drive with my wife we decided to stop at the Travellers Rest for lunch. On entering the pub we were warmly greeted by the staff and shown to a table. We were offered the food menu and the specials menu which priced at 2 meals for £12. I chose from the lamb's liver and bacon served... More

Went on a Friday night with wife and 10 year old, made to feel very welcome. We found the menu a little limited, particularly for the 10 year old who is not a fussy eater. However when the food arrived it was very good. Well kept real ale.

Went here with my family as we are local to the area. The pub itself has nice interior and the facilities are looked after. The food was all lovely would recommend the goats cheese starter. Downsides being that the menu was limited and there were a lot of safe options such as my carbonara which was quite bland. However everyone... More

My elderly Mother and I had an excellent lunch yesterday at The Travellers Rest, which was remarkably quiet, but the staff were very friendly and attentive and the lunch was very good indeed, with well cooked and hot tasty food at reasonable prices. They do small portions which was just perfect for my Mother, who had fish and chips and... More
