Lovely bar with views over the lochs. Food beautifully prepared, fresh locally caught scallops a perfect choice. Marion and her team very attentive. We were having a celebration anniversary and our table was decorated and given drinks on the house! Would definitely use again

We ate as a group three times over the week, in this wonderful, friendly hotel. Locals and tourists alike mingle at the bar, where both Gaelic and English chat adds a genuine warmth to the lounge/bar. We had hired the restaurant for my husband's 70th birthday celebrations one evening, but otherwise ate in the lounge bar. Our extended family was... More

I treated myself to dinner at the Heathbank one evening while staying nearby, and enjoyed a hearty home-made soup followed by fresh Barra crab with a tasty salad. The young staff were friendly and helpful, and diners in the bar /restaurant area also enjoy fine views.

We ate here twice during our week stay on Barra as we are staying nearby. We found the salmon salad delicious, the best we've tasted, although it was a special so not always on the menu The staff were friendly and cheerful and went out of their way to provide excellent service. We were given a window seat on request... More

All the good items on the menu (scallops and shrimp) had run out and the food took a long time although the restaurant was not that busy. So all-in-all not great.

The Heathbank Hotel was recommended by many people for a good meal and we booked our table two months in advance as it was fully booked accommodation-wise so we thought it would be a busy place. The meal was for a special birthday so we dressed up accordingly. We arrived at the lounge bar where there were a few people... More

Heathbank has recently been taken over and the new owner is still finding her feet, but what a team she's establishing. With the very best of fresh local produce, a talented local chef and lovely, friendly bar and waiting staff, this place is set to get better and better. Tonight, our group enjoyed locally sourced prawns, scallops, fish and venison.... More

This small, warm restaurant exuded a positive vibe the moment I walked in. The young waitress was friendly and chatted with me about the hotel, the island, and the food. I ordered cockles to start, and they arrived in a wonderful garlic and wine broth. I decided on monkfish for my entree and it too was prepared wonderfully in a... More
