Visited for lunch after a visit to nearby Scotney Castle. Food was very good typical pub food and excellent value.. It may have been an off day but the beer had all the hallmarks of being not very well kept unfortunately. We ate in the restaurant, but on another occasion would have stayed in the more atmospheric bar or the... More

When it comes to country pubs, The Chequers has got it all! Situated alongside the river in the middle of the picturesque village of Lamberhurst, this pub really is the heart of the community. The inside dates back before the 16th century and has all the character you need. The outside has a charming riverside garden, and for the kids... More

Great location for where we needed to be. Very friendly service / staff. Lovely breakfast. Ok for an overnight stay BUT in need to updating and cleaning. There are some tremendous features to the building that could really do with some TLC.

We called in on the off chance for lunch and as the British weather was being unusually kind we sat in the pub garden next to the river. Although a Saturday it wasn't too busy and we had attentive service from the friendly staff who brought out meals out promptly. The food was excellent, all three of thoroughly enjoyed our... More

We were a group of 9 people having lunch the day after my son's wedding. It was very accommodating and the waitress was excellent. She provided good service and she had a lovely cheerie disposition. Food was good and the ice cream excellent.

After a lovely day at Scotney Castle we stumbled upon this lovely old pub which has charm, character and a well needed roaring fire. We had some lunch - I had a lovely vegetable soup (home made) with warm bread and butter (That wasn't frozen solid so easy to spread) My partner had marinated chicken salad - both on the... More

Called in after a local walk and enjoyed a good value meal in very comfortable and relaxed surroundings. The Spitfire beer was not available and there was only one other choice.

We stopped in for afternoon tea. It might not have been the best time to visit at New Year because the food didn't seem that fresh. The scones, which didn't come with jam or cream, could have bounced and the chocolate cake was very greasy. The hot chocolates did not appear to be made with milk either, although the marshmallow...
