Stopped here for lunch. The charge for the Cheddar ploughmans was well over priced. £9.20 for not much really bit of cheese small lump of bread and small salad, bit of a rip off really, so steer clear of that one. Probably a fiver at tops would have been fairer. Also ordered a sandwich which had little taste and was... More

If you want very reasonably cheap pub grub then this is the place for you. Quaint and welcoming, now run by the people from the Elephants Head. Great plates of hot steaming food. Senior lunches two courses for under £9 with a good choice. Ideal for all age groups with plenty of outside space for children and smokers.

came here with a large group on new years day. low ceilings :--0 staff were really friendly food was pretty good and just what we needed after a long walk on a hangover the large fish and chips was huge and looked like the best of what everyone ordered - good value at under a tenner enjoyable

Grumpy welcome from new owner who clearly didn't want children in the pub. The food is fine if you are happy with microwaved reheated or deep fried food. Carvery was OK but the roast potatoes were rock hard and the veggies had any goodness boiled out of them.

Looking for some good value food on the way home from a New Year walk we booked a place that we hadn't visited for several years. Our first 2 choices were full! We knew that it would be reasonable, we were uncertain about the food.... I have to say that we were pleasantly surprised...good portions, tasty well cooked food, although... More

We called by on the way back from Bedgebury (overcrowded, and expensive sandwiches). Enormous portions and great value for money. Good, proper Pub-grub. We had scampi and chips, a steak pie, a Cumberland sausage. We couldn't eat it all. Speedy service, even when understaffed. Well done!

5 friends ate at lunch time today, all off the pre-Christmas menu. All agreed that the food was wonderful, especially the roasties! The pub was very busy with mainly people having lunches, so a little noisy and service a little slow but very understandable, and we weren't in a hurry so no problems! We'll be back!

A Great Place for Sunday lunch, well cooked, tasty and plenty of it. But not Gastro. A bit short staffed for a busy period. Overall good but not as good as it has been in the past. Menu away from the carver was interesting but limited. Well worth a visit.

We were aware the landlord had recently moved from another pub locally. The food is good honest pub grub nothing more and nothing less. Service was ok could have done with more staff maybe but they were busy with it being fireworks night in the village. Reliable pub grub!
