Difficult to know if it's really worth while reviewing a three-star Michelin restaurant on Trip Advisor, but here goes anyway... The service is excellent - professional, friendly, attentive. The house style seems to be to leave diners a relatively long interval between serving their aperitif, taking their order, and then seating them at their table; thereafter the courses arrived relatively... We stayed here for two nights for our Golden Wedding weekend. Perfection in food service and entertainment .The best food we have ever eaten served by the happiest and most obliging staff at this isolated hotel and restaurant. We enjoyed the theatrical lighting of the dishes during the meal. The superb food with the wit and humour of the all... More

We've been here a few times, although this is our first visit since the redecoration - which makes the place smarter and lighter. From the arrival of the amazing amuses-bouches through the whole menu, everything served is stunning, both visually and in flavour. The pre-starter oyster and the truffled egg are worth a particular mention. Service is impeccable: efficient and... More

We keep coming back to l'Auberge du Vieux Puits once or twice a year with always immense pleasure. We were back again this week with a group of friends whose hobby is to discover the 3 star restaurants around the world. Once again, their diagnosis was that the Auberge du Vieux Puit was probably the best restaurant in the world.... More

Where can I start? We visited this superb restaurant already three times since our first visit in August 2015. Every dish is wonderful. It starts with a lot of "amuse bouche". All are very tasty and delicious. Even a oyster and a "noix saint jacques" are included as a starter. The famous "oeuf pourri" is the best dish I ever... More

Ate here to celebrate our son's birthday. Set in a gorgeous little village up in the hills which is quite isolated but very quaint . There is an a la carte menu plus 3 taster menus - we decided on the Eur160 a head menu & we're not disappointed. Highlights were the oyster with a smoke filled pearl bubble that... More

Gilles Gujons cooking is at the apogee of three star excellence. Every dish is beautifully composed, perfectly executed and displays a level of skill and imagination rare even in the rarefied world of three stars. Dishes to die for include the amazing truffle-stuffed egg and the oyster with its smoke filled pearly sphere - the latter much more inventive than... More

We thoroughly loved our lunch. The service was outstanding yet informal with a sense of humour though out. The €160 pp degustation menu was full of theatre, technical brilliance and flavour. The 'fermented egg' filled with truffle sauce was formidablé! We swapped the oyster entree for razor clams and mussels and were blown away that you could eat the fake... More

We've been going to l'Auberge du Vieux Puits for a number of years now, and each time, it has been an unforgettable culinary adventure. The chef, Gilles Goujon was one of the first 'locavore' chefs in this area. He prides himself on promoting locally grown produce... in season, of course. That all seems very commonplace now, but it's what they... More

We planned this excursion with two Norwegian friends. A one off for us! Wonderful welcome in a superbly newly restored place. We found the round table a little large, thus restricting conversation. We had opted for the 160 euro set menu. The service was outstanding, and the dishes kept coming, including two incredible pre dishes, one an oyster with smoke... More
