A gorgeous setting for a wedding or any celebration. The food was lovely and the staff were helpful and friendly. Overall a great place to be.

We were a family group of ten, booked for Mother's Day lunch and the first group to arrive. The hotel had made a n event out of the day with a pianist (very good, especially the Bach), little pots of primulas given to each 'mother' in the group and very attentive service. Unfortunately the quality of the food didn't live... More

During our first day at the hotel we also had dinner in the restaurant, the friendly staff was very helpful. The menu is English and Italian, enough choices, a good selection of wine although none from the UK. Had the duck pate which was nice and a little sweet. The steak was medium cooked and very tender. As a desert... More

I returned to the Coquetvale after quite a long absence as it has changed ownership several times and not always for the better. The last time I went was about 3 years ago I think and after 2 or 3 visits I was pretty bored with the menu to be honest. Anyway there is a new chef and new staff... More

As last minute decision we tried this restaurant. .We were surprised there were no other diners in. However we weren't disappointed with the quality of food although there was no creamed cabbage as described on the menu. This was a decision maker. The veg on every meal seemed to be the same?

Fabulous food in a lovely hotel in a cracking location. Whilst we stayed in the hotel, it would be well worth a visit for the food alone.

I guess that it's always a bad idea to be on the last table in a restaurant, though booking for 8pm usually means that it shouldn't happen. It did, though: Midweek in Rothbury can clearly be early going-home night! The food was reasonable. My wife and I took a friend, hoping to impress her with the local Rothbury food. Two... More

I had an evening in the restaurant this evening for my partners birthday. Staff were very attentive and the food was outstanding. Started with the belly pork and curry leaf mackerel, both well cooked, well presented and tasty, for main we had trio of salmon and monkfish and scallops and sardines. Both from the specials board. Fair price for both. Great... More

We came upon the Coquetvale by chance when out walking and called in for a drink. Really liked the place, looked smart and modern and decided to book a meal for later. We were given a good table by a window when we arrived and the waiter was friendly and helpful. But then we started to notice a few things,... More

A special treat for my wife's birthday. Had heard good reports of this restaurant, and as my wife and I both love Italian food booked for her birthday. Shown to comfortable wing chair in the bar area, with a Moretti beer to drink while choosing our meals. I decided on the Arachini to start, my wife wanted dessert, so no... More
