Many had told me about their wonderful experience having a meal with their friends in this attractive traditional restaurant right in the centre of Llantwit Major next to the Town Hall. That Llantwit Major is famed for its historic connexions is well known. How that history has been reflected into the décor is marvellous but recreating the atmosphere as well... More

Limited menu but at least they had a vegetarian option which is not always the case in "fancy" restaurants. We had courgette, cream and roast red pepper soup and hummus as starters followed by gnocchi (only one vegetarian main). The soup and gnocchi sauce (Welsh blue cheese) were both a bit heavy on salt, but very tasty. The hummus starter... More

We eat here on a Sunday,as my wife fancied a traditional Sunday roast. I check online to see what Vege meals they had, there was only one option gnocchi in a cheese sauce,I was disappointed that it was the only Vege meal on the menu, but as we were going with my wife's family I went along. The traditional beef and lamb lunches... Large atmospheric restaurant with small front window seating area and much larger rear area. The interior was 'olde world' style with large drapes hanging from very high ceiling in main rear seating area. It had a feeling of a baronial style castle. Service was quick, friendly and informal. Very extensive menu and wine list. Average prices. Public car park across... More

We stumbled upon this place on a last minute decision to grab Sunday lunch and were very glad we found this hidden gem. The venue is truly unique with wonderful features, artwork and pottery and the staff were welcoming and helpful. We ordered a Sunday roast and amongst us we tried all the meats which were all cooked very well... More

Stumbled on this gem today having visited the beach beforehand, it's both charming and quirky on the inside. Good variety of meal options for the size of the place, portion sizes were generous and staff very helpful and accommodating to the specific dietary needs of one of our party. We paid £14.50 per main course however felt this was fair... More

Another visit and again a wonderful set menu. Portions are large, so one starter between two is ample, but you won't want to share the deserts

We went to Illtud's for a family lunch on Easter Sunday. We were given a warm welcome and a perfect table. The rooms and table were beautifully decorated with Easter eggs, buns and flowers - all delightful. The menu had many interesting choices and I started with a proper plate of smoked salmon with all the classic garnishes, chopped red... More

First visit to this restaurant, decor spacious with a Middle Eastern ambience. Service was excellent , food was plentiful and of a very high quality. Excellent value will definitely visit again especially with the great value mid week set menus.
