Local load at the beginning of the main square of Spello.
Small indoor room and possibility of tables outside in an alley: very suggestive.
Only two people (one in the kitchen and the other at the tables) run this activity and you often have the chance to hear them discuss with each other.
The service, we ate for lunch, is objectively too slow. We sat in the inner room when all the tables were occupied and waited 40 min for the appetizers (a plate with 4 pieces of cheese). We justified this waiting time by thinking that the place was full. Between the end of the appetizer and the next course (a first for me and a second for my wife) at least an hour elapsed and the room had now emptied (in addition to our table only two others were occupied and one of these had recently been occupied).
As for the food, good cheeses. The first course, a pasta alla norcina, was very salty and the dressing was a bit "untied". The main course, lamb arrosticini with potatoes, were good but if they had been cooked slightly less they would have been better.
The real deficit is the slowness of the service: spending about 2 hours for a shared appetizer and a single dish each is really too much.

Small trattoria in the center of Spello, we stopped for lunch! There is no à la carte menu but only on the description of the dishes from the waitress, good location, generous portions and a price that is definitely within reach, starter + first or second course €15. The only flaw... it's really a bit cramped in the internal space... we still had a great lunch!

Excellent experience, small but very welcoming place.. the lady who serves the dishes is very kind and sweet! Super abundant dishes, served in simple old-fashioned dishes... we opted for the starter and first course menu at 15 euros each! You can also eat à la carte but the dishes are really plentiful and well seasoned.. you absolutely must try the apple pie!!! Leave a place in your stomach for that!!!!!

After almost an hour we finally received the bruschetta we ordered. Good, simple. Unfortunately, the truffle caciotta in the crock came on a very normal plate and the truffle tasted like little.
Hoping for the 1st course, we waited another hour receiving after the umpteenth reminder two pastas, one with Chianina meat sauce and one with hare sauce, raw and very salty. Inedible. The owner told us that everyone eats their dishes and that we waited because they have served others to free up tables. This is absolutely not attention to the customer. To be avoided.

I ordered an onion soup and a chicken breast along with a glass of wine which it was served immediately along with some bread swimming in a lake of tasteless olive oil.
Then my penance began. Although it is a small restaurant service is completely disorganised. All my waiter did was complain about her salary and that she would rather be at the beach.
Twenty minutes later, the soup arrived…lukewarm and tasteless, meaning that it was sitting ready and warm in the kitchen for quite a long time. After a similar wait the chicken dish made at my table: dry and hard and its appealing ingredients (such as truffle flakes), described in the menu, still to be found.
In a few worlds, Osteria de Dada is a tourist trap.
Avoid this place, there are way better options in town.

Only 30 minutes for two bottles of water, 45 for a bottle of red wine (arrived hot. Not room temperature, warm.)
We waited 1 hour for the appetizers (ordered starter menu + first course), in a single dish of everything: panzanella with salad (wet), cold cuts, sweaty cheeses, 3 bruschettine-ine and two pieces of testo cake. The most edible thing was the last one with the ciauscolo slice.
We didn't finish the appetizer, we got up to pay and leave.
It would be enough to keep the cheeses in the fridge until ready to serve and put the panzanella on a separate plate.
Ah, my fiancé and I are both still with stomachaches, lucky we didn't eat the first one.
Anyway: 2 starters, 2 half bottles of water and a bottle of red (marked at 10€) were paid 35€.
And instead the full menu (excluding drinks) is 15€ per person.
I didn't understand the calculation, but okay.
Never again.

If you go to Spello, it is impossible not to stop in this Osteria. A little gem on the central street of the small Umbrian city where you can eat extraordinarily well, moreover at more than affordable prices, served by a very sweet and kind lady.
We have chosen the possibility of combining their delicious typical starter, which is mandatory to taste and which alone is already filling, with a first course for only €15.00 (naturally drinks and cover charge excluded).
The 2 first courses we took were also really excellent.
The quality/price ratio is truly excellent
Reservations are recommended, as the Osteria has few tables.

We were drawn to this (rather small) restaurant by the smell you could smell in the street... and we were not disappointed. At lunch it offers set menus at a low cost, but with generous portions. Chopping board with quality products, also good first courses. Recommended the restaurant, but also the reservation

Endless and exhausting wait, more than an hour to have an appetizer. Red wine of questionable goodness and above all served not at room temperature but at local boiler temperature. After the appetizers arrived we decided to pay the bill and flee the place, because hunger and desire to eat had passed. The appetizer consisted of a " panzanella? " Which looked like vomit, half a fig, half a slice of melon, bad ham, ciauscolo, 2 slices of testo cake, half a sausage that along with the more mature cheese were good, the other cheese had the typical appearance of a poorly preserved cheese (sweaty and yellow) that I did not dare to eat. Be careful, because incredible but true in Umbria you can eat badly, as well as being served in an undignified way. The offer may seem appealing with starter + first course at 15 euros, but perhaps they already know that many will not go beyond the appetizer, and not for satiety!
Thank you for ruining our evening.

Osteria de Dadà enchants with typical quality dishes. Carefully selected raw materials are transformed into culinary delights, offering an authentic experience. Excellent starters and first courses. The prices (we opted for a fixed menu which they kindly offered us) are really honest. An unmissable taste journey in the heart of Spello!

I'm sorry to have to do this review but I think it's really impossible not to leave it. We were spending a Sunday away with our family, with a small child. We politely call to reserve a place for lunch and the Lady, I think the owner, unfortunately not hearing on the phone, sends us directly to "fuck off". We try to call back to ask for an explanation of this rude attitude and the Lady increases the dose. We pass, at this point even quite upset, in person at the club to tell her that it was not necessary to treat us like this and the conversation continues with shouts and outbursts such as: "we've broken our balls", "go fuck yourself really this time", "anyway we were full", "put the stars that you like I don't give a shit" etc, etc.
What can I say, certainly working in the public is not easy and NO days happen to everyone but Madam, I address you directly if you are reading, to tell you that tourists are not all the same. When you are wrong or you realize that you have overdone it would be enough to apologize! Offending gratuitously two guys who just wanted to have lunch at her place is not necessary/human/polite and educational. Have a good life, have a good day.

Having entered, encouraged by the favorable reviews, we discovered a small and cozy environment, where a very kind and jovial lady made us sit. All courses are super abundant, from the platters to the generous first courses. We asked for another couple of bruschettas with oil and we received 6 slices of bread... First courses (tagliatelle with wild boar) good, home-made cuisine. We didn't try the second courses but they were inviting, the kebabs, the lamb... the steak was really beautiful. Our truffle omelette was amazing, we made it an appetizer for three. Wine by the glass (full almost to the brim). All very satisfactory, excellent value for money.

De Dadà is definitely worth trying if you are in Spello. The tavern has fixed menus that allow you to eat a lot, and well, at a more than honest price. The environment is very familiar and the owner is welcoming as if you were at home. Advise.

While reading not really nice reviews on the spot I wanted to test for myself. The place is very small but in perfect trattoria style in the center, the service is slow and therefore you have to be patient if you want to eat here ; the only waitress who works there has a character of her own that has not given me any problems, in fact, even made a little discount on the final bill.
Some dishes are not the best but others are really good.

Small place, very characteristic, I like them a lot. The lady who served us was very kind and good-natured and, in the meantime, the cook in the kitchen was singing.
Opening bruschetta for two, sliced and lamb, amazing, with baked potatoes.
Two generous glasses, spectacular price. Osteria in name and in fact.
